So if every Microsoft employee buys a Kinect themselves and then bugs all their friends and families to also buy Kinect you'd get a lot of sales, right? It'd be easy to predict 3-5M sales on such a short time period past release when you know that every Microsoft employee worships Developers, Balmer and Microsoft technology.

Now that doesn't account for all the sales, theres an important 2nd component to Kinect sales as well. After Nintendo completed their dumbing down of gaming, they made a large group of people so dumb they couldn't actually figure out how to use a controller. They created a part of the market where one didn't exist before and Kinect is simply exploiting this new market which Nintendo created but are too proud to go after themselves which is why they turned down Kinect technology.

Sony on the other hand couldn't rely on their large numbers of employees because they are like most Playstation fans in general, disloyal bastards. So they couldn't count on people buying their magestic controller as most Playstation fans would rather buy 3rd party stuff over stuff that Sony makes, hence the reason why most Playstation fans don't actually own Playstation 3s.

Instead they had to rely on a niche in the market. They rely on people who are smart enough to use a Wii type controller but however are dumb enough to not realise that they should buy a Wii instead in order to get the true Wii style experience.

So overall with the large numbers of loyal Microsoft employees buying Kinect obviously Kinect will win out in the short term but in the longer term it is really up to Nintendo as much as Microsoft and Sony as to which of the HD motion interfaces wins the sales race. If Nintendo keeps producing content to dumb down the gaming audience then I believe obviously Microsoft will be able to keep out selling Move even after their employee friends/family effect wears out after Christmas. However if Nintendo doesn't do this then Move will eventually pass Kinect as the number 2 controller because given the Wii's overall sales numbers there are probably more people like this now than there are people too dumb to use a controller.

So following your logic the next generation of people will be too dumb to move their bodies and will basically be in a coma.  Nintendo will release a controller next generation that wires itself straight into the brain.  Midway through the next generation the population will be too dumb to use their brains and will die out.  Microsoft will release a contoller that detects your death, digs a hole, throws you in it, and covers it in concrete.  The end of man is near.

I can see the Nintendo theme park now.  You actually are Mario and must rid the world of goomba scum. 

The ethical issues will be astrinomical though.  We already have 40 year men that pretend to be teenage girls online, just imagine that they buy a teenage girl surrogate.  Will sexual interaction with the surrogate be legal since the girl is actually a 40 year old man, or will it be illegal due to his appearance.  Also, will rapping a surrogate be illegal?  The victim could just disconnect from the surrogate so no physical harm is done, but no means no so who knows.

It makes perfect sense for me.

We currently have 40 year old men cyber sexing with 18 year old boys whilst pretending to be 17 y/o girls so I think it is safe to say that precedent has already been passed. As for rapping a surrogate? Well given the quality of the current crop of rap artists whilst it probably isn't illegal to inflict on anyone, it probably ought to be.
