Forums - Sales - Square Enix in trouble - time for Sony make a move?

everyone is overreacting big time, they reduced the net income, meaning they are still making a profit, something that can't be said of many companies these days.

In other words, they restructured the talent out to companies like Nintendo while the fat cats who ran the company's reputation into the ground (Wada) are still earning millions with a golden parachute if the company fails.

As has been said, this is not the Square of 2000 where the hits seemed to be endless. This is the Square of Final Fantasy 11 and 14 where it is one failure after another buttressed by a decent game like Final Fantasy 13, the Kingdom Hearts series, and the Dragon Quest series.

If anything, Wada needs to go and Square needs to put in a head who will get the company back to the basic formula of what made their games the must have RPGs during the 1990s and early to mid-2000s.

How would cutting off access to over 50% of the market help anyone in this besides Sony?

and despite that they are still making a profit, even though many western developers are losing loads of money.  Yes they aren't a profit machine, but everyone is talking about a buyout when financially they are doing fine.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

SE is a sinkhole for money now, they have nothing but their name to go on, they haven't made a good console game in over a decade, Sony would never buy it, Sony is far more interested in new talent (media molecule) when it comes to acquiring studios Sony is the best of the three by far, new talent is cheaper and far more worth it, spending ridicules amounts of money to buy basically just a brand name that sells to alot of people is more MSes thing to be honest, and if MS did buy SE I really don't think I'd care, probably be a similar result to MS buying RARE, which is now a pale shadow of what it once was

lol thats very much a lie.

Square Enix seems like their in deep shit right now - Square Enix Reduces Earnings Forecasts by 91%
SCEJ is in way in better position than Square Enix - They have been absolutely terrible this gen.

Their two most valuable studios - Polyphony Digital and Team Ico take ages to finish their games.

1) don't mistake lower earnings for losses ^^, they released FFXIII this year, so their bank account will do pretty well as the cost for that game were on other years... and your article points out 2009 was a record year for SE (probably due to DQIX).... Sony on the other had had losses... huge losses...

2) wait what? how long do you think it took to finish FFXIII? lol. SE is probably the second most ridiculous company as far as production delays after polyphony. (Blizzard could count but their games are awsome and support on them never stops).

Its not far from the truth, I can only name 2 myself, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Final Fantasy 13 (a good game but a mediocre Final Fantasy).

wow

final fantasy 10

final fantasy 12 (it was an 8/10)

final fantasy 13

`kingdom hearts 1 and 2(i bet more people actually like it than dislike it)

nier

star ocean 3 and 4

The last remnant ( a lil biggy but still good)

etc.

Those are all good or great games

make a final fantasy 7-8 remake, that will save them ;)

People saying that SE can't go backcrupt... Sorry but if GM can go Backcrupt, so can any other huge company. Bad decisions made by a company can easily lead to this.

I think he meant since Squaresoft became SE, so we don't count FF10, even then FF10 was very disappointing at the time.

FF12 I didn't like at all, FF13 I included.

Kingdom Hearts 1 is squaresoft, KH2 I included.

Star Ocean 3 and 4 were made by Tri-Ace, and 4 was awful.

The Last Remnant is mediocre, NIER is made by Cavia.

In my opinion they have only made 2 good games since becoming Square-Enix on home consoles (KH2, FF13), in your opinion they have made many more, which is great for you, I'm glad you can still enjoy most of their games.
