Imagine  what gonna happened if Microsoft is the one who buy SE.  I know , this is an extraordinary possibility because gaming is one of the major economic factors in Japan, so the goverment not gonna let american interests to take over a great player in the gaming industry.

Microsoft have a poor grasp on how to handle the Japanese market (and I don't want to hear the excuse that the Japanese are xenophobic, because Apple Co. is quite successful in Japan), so it wouldn't go well at all. I think it would only make things worse, ignoring American interests.

Don't get me wrong though, I doubt Sony would be able to do much either.

I hope so. Wada is already doing an incredible job of running the company into the ground on his own, but if you throw Sony into the mix, the results should be even more spectacular.

You are right, but i was refering to something completly different , not the ability of MS to control the Japan Market.

i think square screwed themselfs. were 4 years in and all they have released is final fantasy 13 and last remnant.

the rest are just games published by square.

Yeah pretty much, and they also shot themselves in the foot by not releasing The Last Remnant on PS3, since the majority of their userbase lies within Sony consoles...

theres many things they could have done. ff13 should have been released when ready, dragon quest should have been put onto psp aswell aswell as ds. and last remnant would have sold pretty good on ps3 but in early years Wada choose 360 and its all backfired.

imo they should not be bought, other gaming companies have moved on to make better games, its not financial sence to buy them out or buy bigger shares.

i hope they pull through though, ive just recently bought a ps2 and the amount or square games is amazing.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I edited my post to clarify.  Sorry about that.

xD, gaming may be big in Japan, but it's not nearly big enough for the Japanese government to care about something that controls as little of the market as SE. The only reason that would happen if it did would be because the president plays DQ, ;D.

Microsoft should buy them just to piss people off.

The people who could won't and the people you think should, can't.

Tease.

Sony taking in a huge first party with Square Enix and Eidos would probably piss some of the third parties off.

Third parties would not face such competition on Microsoft's console.

Sony would also get it's hands on businesses and game studios it really doesn't need. It doesn't even need Tomb Raider. So what it would accomplish is that they'd secure the rights to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts. Plus cripple the Japanese gaming industry further by taking out its premier game publisher

The only way Square can save themselves now is to just remake Final Fantasy 7 for the ps3 and KABoom... BIG sales.
