Alot can happen in 12 YEARS!

Not... really. Not human rights wise anyway.

How long ago since western society actually accepted open gay relationships? 10 years, maybe 20 max?
|
lol.. what!?
we are talking about legality... not widespread social acceptance.
it was made legal officially in the 60's I think, so 40 or 50 years ago. But a blind eye was turned for a long time before that.
found it... the wolfenden report in the UK: 1957

Even if it takes one year , Qatar should not have been allowed to bid but they did and still no one cared until Qatar won.
Again, where are European countries from this? it takes two to get FIFA where it is right now.. you can't just continue bashing FIFA and forget that no one is actually making a move against them and I wonder why?
|
Hey, to be honest. I would of cared. I didn't even know Qatar bid until they won.
Hell I didn't even know the US bid!
It's hard to get Soccer news in the US. I didn't know China won the olympics until after they won too... was against that too.
|
lol, I said European countries because I know other parts of the world don't really care
I am asking because I want to know. Why is FIFA given the power when they apparently can't make anything right? how the hell does fucking Blatter run it until now? What he said for gay people is enraging in so many ways!
|
I think it's just a matter of nobody wanting to give up the World Cup.
If they take the power away from FIFA... it's not really the World Cup anymore. Say the UEFA and CONCAF pull out but nobody else does...
Where does that leave the World's favorite worldwide event?
As for why Blatter ran it up until now, I'm sure it's unsurprising but his election over the UEFA president was shrouded in controversy and claims of bribes... including the vice president of CAF claiming he was offered $100,000 to vote for Blatter.
Then once in control Blatter basically removed everyone from power who tried to call him on his backroom dealings and general failings as head of FIFA.
