Forums - Sales - What will sell more Gran Turismo 5 or Mario Kart wii.

GT wont get anywhere near 3m, that would be an attachment rate of like 1 for every 3 systems. Thats virtually impossible for a racing simulation.

on that note i think MK weekly worldwide sales could beat Halo 3 sales for the same time period.

Currently Playing: Gears 2, World at War, GTA IV, Banjo Nuts and Bolts

So PS3 will have 9m userbase when GT5 releases? It will release 2008 Q2-Q3 the userbase will be bigger then that.

I think Super Smash Bros. Melee was the 'Cube's biggest seller.

Actually, it isn't according to VGChartz. I don't know how to insert the lists but it looks like MKDD sold 6.60 million while SSBM sold 6.58 million.

 Heres the link:

and GT4 sold 8.79 million on a console with an install base infinitely greater than PS3s.

GT2 dropped in sales after GT1. So if you go by that. GT5 will sell more than GT4. Knowing that the trend goes like this.

GT sales > sales of GT2

GT2 sales < sales of GT3

GT3 sales > sales of GT4

Based on this trend, GT4 sales< sales of GT5

So GT5 should sell more than GT4. And what if Sony bundles GT5 like they did GT3? Will sales spike? This topic would make more sense if both Mario Kart and GT5 released soon and we knew whether Nintendo or Sony would bundle any of these games, so that's not the case.

Didja get that thing I sentcha?

Given the user intallation base, I'd have to go with Mario Kart Wii. I think the attach rate will be similar.

Yet the biggest trend has already been broken, with PS3 in third place

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Weren't Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo, and Metal Gear Solid credited with moving at least 30 million in hardware combined (Don't know the concrete number, but people attribute those 3 games with making Nintendo settle for 2nd for the first time)?

Same thing with PS2: Final Fantasy X, Gran Turismo 3, and Metal Gear Solid 2, weren't they responsible for moving a lot of hardware?

I don't what to say if history were to repeat itself: Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

With PS1, they were released in a one-year period. On the PS2, they were released within the same year. Sony better get on their knees and pray nothing gets pushed back tremendously.

PS1 and PS2 were in the lead before those games launched, PS3 had 5 million units at FFX launch in japan, 4.5 at GT3's launch in japan,

You didn't read my entire post, did you? The PS3 install base will be the same when GT 5 comes out as the PS2 when GT 3 came out. Care to explain your comment?
