Forums - General - NFL bandwagoners

I'm not really a Football fan.  I've always been a Baseball and Hockey guy.  As a kid though, when I played sports videogames I usually played as the "best" teams or my home team. For Baseball that would be the Braves and the Cardinals and for Hockey, the Red Wings and the Blues.

Football wasn't that much different other than the fact that St. Louis didn't have a professional team at the time.  I'm pretty sure I played as the 49ers or the Cowboys.  So it's safe to say that if I had to pick a favorite team back then, it would have been one of those two.

When it comes to real life though, I only ever root for my home town team.  So when St. Louis got the Rams, I became a Rams fan and that won't change no matter who is #1

And being a Blues fan proves my point.  They've never won a Stanley Cup but I'm still always rooting for them (Thank God I'm not a Cubs fan).

I'm Canadian so I don't have a local team I'm obligated to cheer for.

The Bills :)

Haha I guess that's the most logical choice. Not a fan of them though.

I agree,  its upsetting as a hardcore football fan, and being a Detroit Lions fan, in Chicago, for 20 plus years .  I have never understood the bandwagon mentality. I would rather stand by a team through the bad times so that when they do win, it will be like I was on that difficult road with them during the bad times and then finally reaching greatness, and I will feel like I earned it as a fan.

I think a lot of it is probably younger audience who maybe hasn't like a team much before vs people just jumping to the next big team each year.

I've been a Bears fan since I was 10... 1985. Guess what that relates to?

Additionally, you have many people who don't really follow it much nor care, who then become very vocal if their "local" team wins or does exceptionally well.

i dont care how bad or good they get, ill always be a Colts fan. though it has become fun to cheer on the Lions ill admit.

I still like the Patriots, for around 5  years now.

Lately I haven't been given a rat's-ass about Football, though.

No, but last week was very disappointing for Bears fans like myself.  :(

At least we can beat the Lions though.

I've been a fan of the Bears since birth, for better or worse.
