Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 Inside Sims Racing Review - Part 1.

Finally, Inside Sims Racing have posted Part 1 of their GT5 review, here are some highlights from it:

1 - Has an good overall performance with almost every wheel in the market, with some minor issues here and there. Fanatec wheels have the best performance, thanks to the customizable brake sensitivity.

2 - In contrast to other simulators, has fewer customization options (livery mostly), but the mechanic customization is solid and has an actual effect on the car performance, which is pretty noticeable in the engine customization, changing even the sound that the engine makes.

3 - Best physics and Force Feedback in any simulator currently available in consoles, coming close to the experience of iRacing and rFactor.

4 - They seemed completely captivated by the game, even admitting that they can't stop playing it.

5 - Has the best graphical presentation in any simulator, including PC simulators, even with all the inconsistencies like the poor alpha effects and jagged shadows.

Also, pay special attention starting at 49:38.  This is why simulator reviews should be left to actual professionals, or at least someone who has basic knowledge about how a simulator should work/perform. I couldn't have said it better than both Jessica and Darin did.

Edit - Big thanks to goforgold for giving the heads-up about the review on the official GT5 thread.

50mins and it's only part 1? Jeez...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

2010 GOTY!!! I can't stop to play it.

Yup, they'll be showing more features in future shows, including the features that are added via the patches, like the mechanical damage and online leaderboards (coming late december).

For a game with so much content (they even admitted it tops the grand majority of PC sims in content as well), it's normal to have such a massive review.

I pity those "reviewers" who think that a couple of hours with GT5 is enough to give an actual review of it.

Damage isn't unlocked, it's progressive. You won't see much from it in the lower tiers of A-Spec, but starting from Extreme Series forward you can feel the full effect of it. On Endurance races this is particularly felt, since tyre wear and fuel consumption is also unlocked

I've been doing endurance races since Sunday (Currently A-Spec level 28), and during Tsukuba 4H I had a nasty spin-out due to a worn out tyre which sent me clipping against a wall at 110 km/h. The transmission got pretty banged up since I couldn't shift from 2nd gear forward until I went into the pits. Made me lose almost 2 laps to the entire field.

If we wait for them to reach Level 40, then they would only review it next year

It takes three 2H.30min endurance races to go from 29 to 30.. You don't want to know how much exp it's needed in the higher levels
