As an American living in Japan, I can say that yes, some Japanese people are xenophobic, and a few are racist. That is all.

Pretty standard view for big business really.  Most corporations, even the global ones, have a geographic skew to their HQ and the culture of the country they started in.

If Microsoft or Oracle hired someone from Japan to come in and run the business I suspect the top level execs of those companies would be feeling pretty similar about corporate culture, etc.

Not saying it's right - just that it's common and nothing specific to Sony or Japanese.

and btw, doesn't matter what the 'race' of the headman is...there is bound to be some clashing within an organization as big as Sony...racism has nothing to do with it while bitterness and using the race card to let out personal anger has everything to do with it

Why not?  I got no problems with it at all.  If he is qualified and is up to the job then I say go for it.  I love most things Japanese and I may actually go to do some work there next summer so I have been researching it a little.  And yes they are xenophobic.  There are even night clubs that will not allow white people in them even if your with other Japanese people.  Big signs outside say no whites or filipinos etc...

By the way I am not saying all Japanese people are racist nor xenophobic.  However a growing percentage are xenophobes...

Sony also insulted Nigerians with their movie and ad, so yes they're racists.

Based on Sony's history, I'm gonna go with racist.
