Forums - Gaming - Sandbox Games are the most BORING and OVERRATED things in gaming

I thought Assassins Creed was pretty amazing. What other game lets you use a strategy and pull off amazing stealth assassinations? That thing never gets old. There will always be a bit of repetitiveness in sandbox games, unless its GTA 4, where there's a lot of repetition and you have to do the same thing for 30 hours just to complete it.

Play Tenchu and/or Metal Gear Solid... all about tatic, strategy and stealthness

I played MGS 4, here I was specifically talking about open-world sandbox games. Never played tenchu though...

InFamous is boring!?

I haven't played it but come on explore the world

It depends on the game. I'm having an absolute blast in Just Cause 2, it's incredibly fun, and I haven't even touched the story yet. Red Dead Redemption was also pretty great, although it had its flaws. inFamous was great fun as well, and so were the Assassin's Creed games.

Must be just personal preference. For me, I like sandbox games because what you are buying is a world to explore. Simple as that, really. There's a world inside your pc/console, you walk/drive/ interact anywhere in that world. Why do people like to travel? Same thing. What makes some sandbox games better is the game within the sandbox. Red Dead had a good story and atmosphere. Fallout 3 had loads of atmosphere. JustCause2 has an incredible sand box to play in, even though the game story was rather cheesy. I also enjoy arcade type games, driving games (although that's really a sandbox you drive in), RPG's (sometimes are sandbox).  So what games DO you like? Just arcade or puzzles? Just linear? I enjoy them all, but it's like going on vacation somewhere when I play a sandbox game.

i'm afraid it is not curable. the only thing you can do is live with it

but seriously what do you see in open world games???what is its attractivness for you??(if you like open world games :D)

In Rockstar games - Cause accidents, kill cops, get your wanted level up, run over hookers

In Assassin's Creed - assassinate random people and fight endless guards

I would have said Survival FPS-RPG sandbox game ...

Time to Work !

Id have to agree with them being boring in general. I tried GTA a couple times on my friends Xbox and was bored within a few minutes. Being I love to explore in a lot of games I was just bleh by my whole exp with them. It took me 6-8months in WoW to hit 60 back in the day due to exploring. I explore every nook and cranny in platformers. Hell, In Fragile Dreams I spent most of my time exporing the areas (its mostly what you do but it can be done much faster if you just do what your actually supposed to be doing). Metroid its a must to explore. Actually im pretty sure I spend a lot of time just exploring even in racing games I go off track and explore...
