I believe the Last Guardian is a contender for it's art direction alone.
Games like Kirby's yarn show that a game doesn't necessarily have to be a 3-D shooter to have good graphics.

At the end of the day, I hope Rage wins it. I have a soft spot for ID games =P
Although this game gets many comparisons with Fallout, the visuals don't compare at all. RAGE looks so much better with respect to the landscape and the character models. The art direction will be it's only downfall.

Goitta agree with that.  Never seen Unreal engine look like that.  I might just accept rendering on development kit, but it looked liked CG to me.  I'd need a definative source to believe that was Unreal engine and anything like the final game will look.

OT - Well, Uncharted 3 and Killzone 3 are looking very, very good, but while their games might not always be the best I'm so used to Carmack, technically, besting anything else that I'm going to wait until we see more of Rage and in particular ID Tech5 until I write off the ID boys.

I suppose Killzone 3 , Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 wouldn't apply either since they are linear closed corridor games.
