LoL, you didn't get my point as it seems. I didn't say there isn't any difference, I said you don't see it, and you don't see it because you will never see Drake's face so close if it isn't a cutscene.

Uh, I can move the camera anywhere I want, you've made a fatal flaw though, you're assuming everyone can't tell a difference between a video and something generated at real time. I can and it is as easy to spot as 30fps vs 60fps. I guess you're one of those people who doesn't.

snfr said:

You probably won't do the same type of comparison for a 360 or multiplatform game

Why wouldn't I? Do tell. In fact I heartilly would welcome the challange. Post any (unaltered) pic of you like from any console game with a pre-rendered "in engine" shot and another shot of the same engine in real-time and I will be able to tell you exactly which is which.

I still don't get what you're trying to desperately prove here. Not that you only complain about CGI's choice of pics and derailed the thread, you also try to bad-mouth Uncharted 2's graphics.

I don't see how agreeing with the developer that the PS3 cannot do U's cutscenes in real-time is bad mouthing it. It's a simple fact, although according to some people here, not a very well known or understood one.

Buy a PS3, put down your bias, play Uncharted 2, then come back and discuss properly. (Just for you to know: I have all three consoles, I like them all, and I don't bad-mouth games that I don't like or didn't play, so...)

I have played the game to completion from the heist to shambala, there's a significant difference in the real-time graphics and the pre-rendered ones. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean its not there.

Btw, I still think it's funny that you claimed that the ME3 trailer is in-engine...

And as you can see, I already acknowledged it was pre-rendered  (same as Uncharted 3) to begin with in the original topic as the TC didn't seem to have a problem with it with PS3 exclusives. Of course at that point he started making up "mah roolz".

Have you read -Sixx-'s post? It pwns your comparison quite heavily. And it actually proves that you're claiming nonsense...

Wey-hey. Looks like you just tried to write off all the other valid complaints with a "omg joo just lawst credability"

But hey, if it makes you feel better, here's the campaign shot with the "high" lod Drake model.

There is still difference between CGI and pre-rendered. You won't see CGI in the game at all, but you WILL see pre-rendered in the game.

It looks way better than the multiplayer one, you see it yourself. So... other valid complaints?

Further discussing will really lead nowhere here I guess. So let's end this. It's just sad how you derailed the thread, hopefully next time you won't try the same.

I'm tired, it's already after midnight here, so I'm leaving this thread and going to bed.

Did you even played the game? That's another pic from Multiplayer.

"for Drake, its the same model when you are in cinematics, in game cinematics, and just running around.. he is around 37k not including weapons.. we did this so there is no noticable difference between the in game cutscenes and you just running around.. Also so there is no noticable difference between the cinematic version and in game.. Personally I think we could have givin him a LOD in game and you wouldn't have noticed too much... but in the end our engine was able to handle it and we just said screw it ....I think everyone really wanted to make sure he held up throughout the entire game.."

hard to choose

but id say

KZ3, Crysis, and Rage

i also agree with some others who arent that impressed with uncharted i dont prefer its graphics style among other things

idk if its just that i like this game or what but i think 2011 spec ops the line will have above average graphics aswell and feel that U3 kinda copied this desert sand stuff from them

*Sigh* I have no beef with you friend, but incorrect terms are being used again. CGI is a broad term, it's short for computer generated image, if you have an image on a screen and there was some computing involved to generate it, it's CGI.

It isn't the difference between a high quality rendered movie (WallE) and a low quality one (Uncharted, or worse) Yes I am well aware ND claims this is all "in engine" (which is a useless term), it is also a well known fact that comparing a Avatar to Enslaved is an assinine "graphics" face off, not because they used different work stations to create them, more to the fact that any DVD player can run "in engine" Avatar, but only cognitive engine with a decent CPU and Graphics card could run the real-time elements of Enslaved

Uncharted 3, lol need I say more?

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

I completely forgot!

Great link. There's some really interesting info in that post. I especially like:

"the hairs were placed manually and pain stakingly.. there were no scripts to help with that.. we had to make sure the sorting was the best it possibly could be.. that meant doing everything by hand..

we all tweaked our own shaders on our work... but we have dedicated graphics programmers who write the shaders.. not sure if that is what you meant..

our character team was actually smaller.. at the height of production it was at 5 with 2 TD's.. that is how you got to 7.. we had outsourcing help for some things but ended up redo-ing most of the work we got back.. "

WTF?! They did all that work?! Great stuff!
