No, it's really not. Uncharted and Mass Effect are probably the biggest contenders right now.

No they really aren't. Oblivion took home most of the GOTY awards in its year, Skyrim must fulfill its destiny by doing the same.

Tell you what

Outline for me the ways in which certain gaming values (such as people's reaction to the Oblivion Formula after the advent of Fallout 3 and New Vegas) haven't changed, but thereafter you will also have to convincingly argue that the competition for Oblivion was as fierce (or platform-spanning) as the competition Skyrim will assumedly have.

I do not comment on rumour or speculation.

Sorry, no dice.

Anyway 2011 is definitely shaping up to be a great year.

Of course, next to The Last Guardian, Mass Effect 3, and Skyward Sword, everything else might as well not exist.

Stop spreading lies darth. Oblivion got swallowed by Gears and Twilight Princess in most relevant publications.

My friend Slimebeast deals with such rumour's and speculation's. He is sleeping right now. But you are under-estimating Skyrim just because of Fallout 3/New Vegas. Skyrim will have a new engine which will set it apart from them, we can't say more till we know more details about the game itself.

But also remember apart from ME2 this year Fable and New Vegas got review's in the 80's. This is a perfect chance for Elder Scrolls to once again amaze reviewers with its Open World and hopefully quality.

Sometimes I wonder who's weirder in the VG industry: The companies or their core customers.

 Too...... many....... games!!!

I seriously need to start putting a lot more money into my video game money jar if I want to afford most of the games next year.

For game of the year 2011, it's definitely going to be hard to pick. Though I'm still most excited for Skyward Sword :D.

Uncharted 3 no way (amazing game but "too much of the same", plus it's PS3 exclusive. Awards tend to go to multiplatforms).

Mass effect 3 if it comes out late 2011 then yes, certainly it's a contender. But if ME3 comes out early 2011 then Skyrim is the clear favorite to win Spike's VGA GOTY.

Even with ME3 before x-mas 2011 I think Skyrim is a bigger favorite. Bethesda has two straight GOTY winners behind it, it was 5 years since the last Elder Scrolls and Skyrim will wow everybody with amazing graphics.
