Excellent numbers for those. I wonder if they can keep this pace up until the end of the year. Uncharted 2 finally outsold Assassin's Creed II this week.

Also doing good numbers:

17
LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
Sony Computer Entertainment
111 47,166 3,881,606

^Should pass 4mill by the end of the year.

22
inFamous (PS3)
Sony Computer Entertainment
80 33,519

1,755,170

^Selling on par with Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's creed 2. nice. I though sales would be at 2mil when inFamous 2 releases, it's going to be much higher than that.

11
Killzone 2 (PS3)
Sony Computer Entertainment
93 22,965 2,472,912

^doing pretty good

18
MAG: Massive Action Game (PS3)
Sony Computer Entertainment
45 12,560 989,567

^will hit one million next week.

Uncharted 2 surpasses Assassin's Creed 2 and becomes the 8th best selling PS3 game.

Only being beat by Grand Theft Auto, Call Of Duty, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Solid.

Not bad at all.

Out of the 9,384,664 pieces of software for the Wii 2.2 million of them were bundled with a Wii console and resulted in $0.00 additional revenue.

Last year out of the 10,055,875 pieces of software for the Wii 1.46 million of them were bundled with a Wii console and resulted in $0.00 additional revenue.

Your point being?

There is no point. He is only stating the obvious: that bundled software doesn't result in profit.

Why are both of you assuming that a machine bundled with a game costs as much as the machine would without the game? The Wii's launch prices in countries it launched with Wii Sports compared to the ones it didn't tell a completely different story.

And where he gets his 2.2 million pieces of software from is just strange. Did he add up all the NSMB Wii, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort sales? That would account to 2.2 million. That's just plain silly, though, as only a fool would expect that anywhere near half - let alone all - of NSMB Wii's, and kind of Wii Sports Resort's, sales are from bundles.

I'd personally say a fairer number is 1054k from Wii, plus ~ 200k from both Wii Sports Resort and  Wii Sports Resort, as well as 50k from Mario Kart Wii in Europe, and possibly 50-100k from Wii Fit Plus is a fairer estimate. So around 1600k bundled software for the Wii, I'd say.

The 2.2 million figure seems kind of ridiculous.

Okay, I KNOW that they still have revenue even when the game is bundled, I just though that was silyl to say. Not more silly howeverthan him putting togheter all sales from these games.

Above: still the best game of the year.

VERY good sales all round, especially for 2 of the 3 "doomed" consoles (Wii, PSP)

PS3 is still poor, but the 360 (with Kinect) has beaten my expectations. There, I said it

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

That's a point of view, but the issue may be more complex than you seem to be allowing for.  Originally the Wii came with just Wii Sports in the west - later WSR was added in place of dropping the price of the Wii (some 3 years after the console's release).  This year alternatives to the WSR package have been offered and, as far as I'm aware, the official price of the Wii remains pretty close to its original RRP (though obviously different sellers are offering different discounts) - certainly a lot closer than one would expect for a four-year-old console with virtually a nine-year-old engine.  Without these games bulking the Wii package, Nintendo would not be charging as much for the machines as they are.  Looked at this way, these games are adding additional revenue because:

1) buyers are paying for the games (since without them the package they are purchasing would be cheaper)

2) the inclusion of certain games in the Wii box may well be what is enticing some customers to actually buy the console, which Nintendo sells at a (by now probably considerable) profit.

Apologies - I've largely repeated your point before scrolling down to check whether someone had already made the point I was going to.  As for the 2.2 million figure, I suspect the methodology was simpler and less flawed than the one you suggest.  My guess is that there's an assumption that basically all Wiis outside of Japan (i.e. roughly 1.1 million) come bundled with 2 games, hence a 2.2 million figure without any suggestion of how many were WSR, NSMBWii, Mario Kart Wii or Wii Fit.

The point is that the numbers really inflate the difference between how the consoles are doing. When 20/25% of your sales arent sales at all it should be noted.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

WOW! Wii sales are insane. Looks like Epic Mickey started out well.

This is most excellent.  I argue to say these are the kind of games that make gaming worth it.  Gotta keep spreading the good stuff.
