Forums - Sony - Resistance 3 gets 2 player online & split-screen co-op

God R3 and Kz3 released on the same year. x) Eventhough they're FPS it's gonna rock. But I think that KZ3 will be the winner between them.

So ironic when we have a thread this week saying games lack split-screen, two PS3 games will add to addressing the issue. Perhaps Sony pushed for it, perhaps devs are seeing the error of their ways in not including the feature. Either way, the PS3 can now boast more split-screen & co-op titles.

Well, RFOM had it.  It was replaced in R2 with that crazy dedicated co-op mode, but Insomniac have said they're returning to regular co-op because they feel they can devote more time to it, making it a more polished a experience.

Traditional co-op should've never left, and they've simply realized both that and the fact that the other modes they were working on were causing themselves to be stretched to thin.

As for Killzone, I think it falls into their "top down, bottom up" strategy, where with each game they pinpoint the five areas that were looked upon most favorably by players, and the five areas which were looked upon least favorably.  The five weak points they then strive to turn into strong points with their next game.

This is why the AI was improved so dramatically from Killzone to Killzone 2, given it was one of the biggest issues with the first game.  This is also why the second game was simply more polished, removing all the LOD and other graphical issues present in KZ1.

The three most notable issues with Killzone 2 (that I've seen) were the laggy controls, the weak narrative, and the lack of co-op (given the game seemed like it was MADE for co-op, so its omission was glaringly obvious compared to other games).  It's no surprise these have become the focus of GG's development with KZ3.

The poly count on that isn't very impressive. :-S

Although with the amount of time I'm thinking this title will get, it will improve, especially when considering what R2's Chimera looked like up close. It was staggering.

It's one unit in a game known for having upwards of 50 units on screen at once.

And I was too busy looking at the detail in the foilage to notice.  :P

Tease.

Yea split screen.  Miss the old days of shooter split screen as now really it has been Halo and not much else (not like I'm complaining as didn't need to much more than Halo).

Will be awaiting the VGAs to see this game shown off, as I still want to play the first two, but haven't had the chance.  But can still be intrigued by this one.  What can I say, I do like shooter games.
