Nah PS3 has to output those games at 720p we don't know what resolution PSP2 will have.
If it's 576p then it only needs to push aroun 65% of pixels PS3 can
if it's 480p only 45% of PS3 power would be needed. (IIRC 800x480 screens are current standard for high end smartphones?)
Now let's look at Samsung Galaxy S or Iphone 4 - those can already push really serious graphics. Now those phones cost 500 euro BUT PSP2 won't be released before late 2011/early 2012 probably so according to Moore's laws cost of making cpus and gpus for them wil be halved by that time.
AND those are smartphones - Samsung has no way on profiting from sales of software on Galaxy S which means they must profit on every piece sold.
Now Sony is in much diffrent position - they will benefit from all software sold for PSP2 as well as they might be able to benefit from on-line services (digital movie rentals, music store etc.) so they can afford to sell PSP2 at minimal profit in starting period. I'd estimate that 250-300 euro starting price will be reached without problems which will put it at 3DS levels or slightly above.

it's been 4 years since the Ps3 came out, there are PC's with at least twice the power f a Ps3 GPU for 100$ the CPU, and processors with similar PS3 CPU (maybe slower, but doesn't make quite a difference in the game)

but make them portable and they become expensive again
that's why you don't have a phone with a processor as powerfull as a pentium 4 2.66 Ghz yet, cause you need to make it portable, use low power and generate low heat

Oh, be reasonable. This is the Sony PSP2, not the Mac PSP2

You must build additional pylons... to power this PSP

The engine has so many cylinders, it can go from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds, it has so much torque, and did I mention what it's top speed is?" There would be no mention of safety features, cup holders, gas mileage and on. All the talk would be about how powerful the car is. Problem is, unless you are selling a muscle car, truck to a blue collar guy, or a lamborghini, the average customer could give a damn about how much torque the engine has. Sony with the PSP2 is going the same route as the PS3 where the focus is almost entirely on the graphics processing power before we hear about the software. I heard about the software of the 3DS before I learned how powerful the 3DS is. PSP2 is dead on arrival. I can't wait to be confirmed and feel smug when they announce the entry price point, which if over $250, then well...Anyone want to put a 40th stake through a dead vampire? |
the PS3 has the best Exclusives by far this gen so im sure there will be alot of good software on the PSP2. infact im confident in that
And rival the Nomad's/Game Gear's battery life... pass... the 3DS will own it if tech focus is all they've got...
