Forums - Sony - PSP2 to Rival PS3 Graphics

The heat coming from this device must be hot enough to burn fingers.  I'm serious.  My Droid already heats up when too many apps are running at once.  Imagine what would happen with a handhelp PS3.  And why so much power for a handheld?  The smaller screen already makes everything look great.  Why blow money punching up the visual so much if only a few will notice?  Too much work for too little return.  I'm gonna call bullshit on this rumor.  We'll see if I'm wrong (as usual) when this thing comes out.

Tsk tsk, such an ignorant fool!

Also, why is anyone trusting IGN? :p

Because this isn't the only rumor that hints at such.

But something tells the PSP2 will be exceedingly pricey.

What's your guess on its' price?

I think it could be between 299 and 399. More than 399 would immediatly kill its' sales (if rumours are true of course).

Assuming that Sony want to make a profit on each one that they sell, I reckon that the price will be about $399

Well, that's what I fear. But who knows, we'll see soon enough I guess.

I wouldn't worry too much about it though, because if it doesn't sell very well at launch, then they'll just drop the price xP

I'm not quite sure how to respond to that.  Uh....smell my finger?

Actually, I wouldn't have a problem to pay 399 if the hardware itsself and software for it is great. But a price of 399 would surely hurt its' sales.

You clearly don't understand the true purpose of the PSP2. But i wasn't expecting too much from you anyway.

This article is BS. The PSP2 will only be able to rival the 360s graphics at best. PS3 graphics are too good

Cooling and battery life really seems the main concern here. This isn't launch year of the PS3, and these are not even PS3 specs. Components are cheaper now, and of course there is no BR to put extra cost.

As for the "rival" thing.. well, rival some early titles, probably low resources ones. Doesn't mean the same power.

Okay, if this is true, it shows us that Sony has learned NOTHING from this gen. I predict that by the 9th generation, Sony will have cut its losses and moved on from the video game hardware business, if they don't go bankrupt by then, that is, >.>.

3DS Friend Code:   4596-9822-6909

if the screen is, let's say 576p, why shouldn't it be PS3 early-title-like graphics? Reducing the resolution to that would allow them to still output nearly the same graphics like the PS3. And you won't notice the difference on such a small screen. The battery life could be really a problem, though, unless they magically develop a Fusion battery.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.
