SNK bringing NeoGeo titles to PlayStation Network

Celebrating NeoGeo’s upcoming 20th anniversary on December 21, SNK Playmore has announced NeoGeo Station for PlayStation Network. NeoGeo Station will be a “continuously growing” library of NeoGeo games for PlayStation 3 and PSP.

The first 10 games will arrive on December 21. All games with versus and/or co-op play have been updated to allow play over the PlayStation Network with PlayStation 3 or over Ad-Hoc mode with PSP. All of the PSP versions of the game will be out in January, with the exception of two listed below. The games are:

Fatal Fury (PSP 12/21)
Alpha Mission II
The King of Fighters ’94
Samurai Shodown
Baseball Stars Professional
Magician Lord
Metal Slug (PSP 12/21) (wooooT)
League Bowling
Super Sidekicks
Art of Fighting

Each game will cost $8.99 on PlayStation 3 and $6.99 on PSP

All of these games except (Alpha Mission II, Baseball Stars Professional, League Bowling, and Super Sidekicks) are already on Wii's Virtual Console for the same price if any of you have a Wii and want one of those games AND you don't care about online play. Additionally, there are quite a few other games already there.

Now, if this adds trophy's and scales the graphics up, then this is the best option. But, I'm betting it only adds the online play which may or may not matter to you. It wouldn't to me.

Interesting though that those four do not exist on VC... maybe VC is about to launch a few new ones on the 20th anniversary date?

Either way, nice addition to the PSN library. Smart of Sony to try and grab some of the VC stuff that it should be able to grab as quite a few titles on there have nothing to do with Nintendo's legacy and could be on all systems marketplaces.
