its first 10 weeks arent that important. what is important is if it keeps on outpacing it for two years.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

If you look at weeks 6-10, it's not. Halo 3 has stronger legs in those weeks. Reach has the bigger opening, hence the higher sales, but going by the numbers weekly, it is Reach being outpaced.

Reach launched 2 weeks earlier in Septemeber than Halo 3, so Halo 3 got the holiday boost 2 weeks earlier.

Halo 3 week 9 sales must be compared to Halo Reach week 11 sales. 172,621 vs. 179,251 (same time of the year)

I hope it does,  it was a far better game than Halo 3.   I really enjoyed Reach and have replayed the campaign 4 times now.

One more week to compare.

That's fine and dandy, but I was going by the evidence put fourth. It may be ahead (Reach), but according to that chart, it isn't.

Basically, that chart isn't the best representation of the full story.

Yeah, it's definitely not a good representation. Once Halo 3's sales drop down (after the holiday season finishes), Reach's sales will still be high (as it will still be in the holiday season for those 2 weeks).

I think once things settle down again (after the holidays), then that will be the best time to compare sales.

yeah that chart isn't really representative for a week to week comparison.

Would be better to delete the 2 rows before the holiday boost slowly starts to kick in. Like this:

This chart shows the better picture. Reach IS outpacing it.

Week 11: 179,251 (Reach) > Week 10: 163,499 (Halo 3)

2 weeks difference. Black Friday was the week were Halo 3 sold 172,621 units.

That can't be compared too because the Xbox 360 sold more this Black Friday than 2007.

That would be a factor if Reach was bundled with a SKU, but these new 360 owners don't buy the console necessarily for Halo Reach only. Kinect sold a lot this week, so it's fair to assume that a lot of the new 360 owners bought a Kinect bundle and are more geared towards casual games.

By doing this you can't compare anything from this year to the past years.
