The man needs to be killed. Citizens doesn't have rights to know what are the objectives of their State.

Wikileaks will not change anything....It's only one more proof that 80% of what they tell you is lie.

Killing him would just be... dumb.

It's like, the worst political play anyone could do.

Even if it stopped the flow of information... (which it wouldn't) people would assume the WORST like way worse then the government is likely engaged in.

Furthermore it'd make the guy a martyr for his cause and if anything probably increase outside hacking attempts to get info.

I was sarcasttic.

The worst is: There are a LOT people thinking the same way, that he needs to be killed. It's OK for corrupt politicians, but a person to think this....Maybe.....People want to take the blue pill and remain in Matrix.

Nah, I think people would be fine with the "good" leaks.  Which there have been some... but for every few good leaks there have been there has been a bunch of worthless things that are basically the equivlent of mundane emails and a few dangerous things like the above mentioned terrorist locations.

That's why people are mad.  (mostly.)   It would be like if a Website said "we have proof your company is corrupt!"   Then they post the proof your company is corrupt, along with all of your personal emails about what you think about your co-workers and a file with your social secruity number, address, phone number, bank account you get paid into and yearly salary.

What the fuck is with posting all that other stuff?

Replace financial and personal problems caused with diplomatic and possible outright deaths through terrorists... and yeah... I can see people being mad enough that in the heat of the moment they'd call for someones death.

Who are the Terrorists?

Anyone who'd want to make a terrorist attack on the US with an internet connection?  Those lists give some pretty unconventional "soft" targets.

I agree that killing him would be a disaster.  Look, I don't know whether the rape charges are legit or not, but it would seem to give governments a good enough reason to lock him away for a long time.  Julian Assange is an anarchist, that much is true.  A man without law and good sense imo.  I agree with what you've stated about him becoming a martyr.  The outcry against such an act would be huge I'm afraid.

If it wasn't true, what would be the point of locking him away.  It's not like he's even the most important Wikileaks person, he's just the frontman?

Heck, even if the charges are REAL and somehow they do get a conviction,  which is unlikely since rape conviction rates are like less then 10%, with 2% false reporting, meaning like... over 90% actual rapists get off.

How does that help?  A lot of conspriacy theorists, and probably regular people who aren't fond of America will just assume he was innocent anyway and he'll end up a lesser type of marytr anwyay.

At best, said charges would be to get him to Sweden so he could be deported to the US... to face charges, pretty much EVERBODY agrees he would beat anyway.  Once again, just vindicating him and making him look good.

Like there is no "win" situation for any government as far as the rape charges go.  If it is a government plan... it's one of the most ill conceived ones ever.

These rape charges are nothing but bad for the USA and Sweden.... and hell, if you study what happens to rape victims who take things to trial... it's nothing but bad for the accusers too, as i'm sure they're getting all kinds of death threats and hatemail at the moment.   Amusingly the only one with anything to gain from these charges is the accused himself and possibly justice if he did comit the crime and is convicted.

We are in agreement.  I don't think it's a good idea.  What I was trying to point out is that the American and Swedish governments seen to now be grasping at straws, trying to put a lid on this thing (which I don't think they can).

Hey if you've got a rape charge, you can't NOT persecute it, even if it's not politically conveneint.

No.

No more comments....Sorry, but try to find the truth by yourself. Good Luck brother.

I love reading these WikiLeaks, but it is a little discerning when it mentions your home nation...

As far as I know the leaked list does not exactly list "weaknesses"/interesting terror targets of the various countries, it only lists places which are of strategic importance to the USA. Or to put it in different words: It's a list of places that the USA cares about about even though they are outside of the USA.

For example, in my country it does not mention any of the obvious terrorist targets (atomic power plants etc.) What it does list for my country is a few deep sea internet cables and a number of companies which produce goods no other companies produce (manufacturers of weapons and special medicines for example).

By the way, today I read something interesting about that "rape" charge against Assange. The real trick is that Sweden's law has a very disturbing definition of "rape", one that goes far beyond what you and me understand when we hear the word "rape". In Sweden, if a man and a woman have mutual consent sex but the condome breaks, the man can be accused of rape. Something similar happened to Assange. It's a very weird law and probably the reason why Sweden has the highest percentage of rape accusations in the world. Foreigners visiting Sweden (like Assange) usually don't know this, so there is a good chance Assange was actually tricked to commit a "crime" that he didn't even know it was considered a crime because it is no crime in other countries. It is also known that only short before the "rape", the woman who accused him of rape visited an organization in Miami which is known to be very close to the CIA...
