Not that these aren't massive numbers and all (the PSP is downright frightening), but I think those who thought it would outsell Pokemon BW (and there were a lot of them) should really eat crow, :P.

I remember Kotaku having a hype thread exploring the possibility.  Did we have a thread here on VGC?  If so, link please.

Don't think we had a thread, but lots of people were repeatedly predicting that it would happen in the COMG preorder chart thread after Pokemon left the chart.

Yeah your right!!! Silly me. PS2 is the beast. I feel terrible for not seeing it. Thanks for the input MUGEN. LOL!

Oh I now see you guys' greatness and wisdom, you're so smart and I'm so stupid, I apologize for tainting PSP sales  with even the remote possiblity that the measly and lowly MH3 (on the Wii! Gasp!) could be responsible. My apologies.

That behind us - "The boost was from the new exclusive PSP MH3P" - source please?

Chill out. Come on, Don't take that seriously. MHtri did great and I am not going to argue with you on that one.

Anyways you said that MH tri expanded it and I just disagree with it. MH tri benefited from Monster hunter being popular now and the portable counterpart was the cause of it. I would have agreed with you if the MH portable didn't exist.

At the bold one. Seriously? You want me to give you source for it?  I think it's pretty much common sense ( no offense intended) and I am sorry if I am reading this wrong with your post but do you honestly believe that it didn't cause a massive boost?

Well, to answer you. I don't have a source on it but since you are going down to this road. Do you a have link from this expanded user base which you spoke of?

You have one here. Although I think I didn't expect it to outsell B/W's total sales, only FW.

Actually I had no problem with your responses until someone, whose name will go unnamed (), started ridiculing my arguments. The only reason to ridicule (as opposed to disagree with) my arguments is when someone thinks the way I (somewat extremely) presented.

Anyways, while it may be common sense for many, and I consider it a real and likely possiblity, it is still an assumption. There are a lot of things that are common sense that end up being wrong. For it to be more than common sense, imo at least 250k PSPs from this week should be that special version. The way you said it, I thought you were actually quoting a source, which is why I asked for it.

Well, duh! You would deserve to be destroyed for your stupidity if you seriously believed that it would outsell BW altogether, :P.

I think this is the most interesting part of all this.

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 03rd Jan 2010 to 27th Nov 2010:

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 03rd Jan 2010 to 27th Nov 2010:

Console DS
Japan

It would seem that PSP has a very real shot at being #1 in Japan this year. And this is with DS getting a price cut, a record setting Pokemon game, and Pokemon bundles. Talk about unexpected.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Lol it didnt even ship 2 million .. lol

Capcom did not say they shipped only 2 million copies. They put out a press release saying that they have shipped 2 million copies, which means they have passed the 2 million milestone. S-E did the same thing with FFXIII. They released press report about FFXIII having shipped 1 million copies. It sold a lot more than that during its first week. Same thing.

i was just bein funny :P

Huge sales. Sony should really have a talk with Capcom for a Ps3 version.

Very impressive, though I doubt it'll actually outsell it. To get so close and possibly take the lead for a week or so is simply amazing.

I guess at a sixth of a nation's population, you're bound to hit some sort of saturation point.
