Forums - Sales - 2010 Biggest busts in sales

Shame because Spli/Second, Blur and Alan Wake were all good games.

It's a real shame, I REALLY liked Alan Wake (my friend brought his X360 over one weekend) it was SOOOOOO atmospheric with storytelling and voice acting like no other game, the gameplay was really scary and too with me actually refusing to play it for a while after going through a really nerve-racking part of the game lol XD

It'd be nice if more people got to experience it but what are yuo gonna do... Still, it's not like it TOTALLY bombed, just didn't light the charts on fire

And OMG!! poor No More Heroes 2!!! It had its flaws but it didn't deserve this!! :(

What about Castlevania?

Edit: And Vanquish?

Those have only 6 weeks in the market. This list was made with gaes that at least have 2 months (8 weeks)

Alan Wake is probably over 1 milion by now (or should be before years end) when you consider that it is bundled in a console bundle, as a digital download. And that its on games on demand, disappointing sales nonetheless.

No More Heroes 2 sales werent awful but not good. However at the rate it's selling it could eventually get to 350-400k or maybe even 450-500k making it surpass the original.I really think ubisoft should've advertised it in the Us as i don't think Rising Star is rich enough to advertise it i may be wrong. If only Ubisoft treaated it like the Just Dance or Rabbids series i've lost count of how many ads i've seen.

They better damn well advertise Alan Wake 2 to the hills, I wanna see this thing on the side of busses!

There's an Alan Wake 2??!

10. Alan Wake: This is a great game and even though the sales were fantastic, it still doesn't deminish how good a game this is. The game will eventually pass the 1 million mark I think.

What really happened? The marketing was there, but the game just didn't appeal to everyone. It's really a niche game. I don't remember Alan Wake being bundles with the 360. The poor economy didn't help this game either.

9. Modnation Racer: I thought this game was great. The two main problems with it was 1) The load times between races were terrible. 2) You could only Mod you cars cosmetically. The cars speed and handling never changed, which sucks.

What really happened? RDR may have hurt some of the sales, but this was another game that just wasn't for everyone. Not everyone likes to create, modify, and  paint cars and tracks. It's time consuming.

8. Split/Second: This game was pure arcade action and really should have sold better.

What really happened? I don't think the game was marketed that well for one. I don't think the game had enough content to keep gamers attention either. Most gamers had to choose between this, Blur and ModNation Racer at the same time.

I tried to avoid Super Niche titles like that one. Other games like Trauma Team, Shiren the Wander, Nier or almost every RPG released for the PSP are in the same situation.
