Forums - Gaming - PS3 games "infinitely more fun" than Wii

OH Sony.. you don't need to talk smack.. you're doing fine as it is..

Just be patient, less greedy and stop making insults to compensate for your sales.

I still love you.

Understanding is the key.

i bet he owns a Wii at home, lock himself in his room and play SMG during midnight, hahah!!

Lol that article isss funny.....

"[high-end games] are infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting"

Realizing this is just more PR spin, but suppose Sony actually started making their games "infinitely more demanding".

Thus, instead of being just very good at playing one of their game, or even great at it, you now have to be one of the top 10 players of the game in the world, and you might be able to win at the game.  All of a sudden, it's not so much "infinitely fun and exiciting" any more for most all of us.

Which brings us back to the casuals and gamer dropouts.  Too many games did become infinitely demanding, both in terms of playing the game and just playing the game for a short while.  And for them, it wasn't that much fun anymore.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.

he is deluding himself when he says he is happy that the wii is selling out.

Exactly! How is it a good thing that the competition sells so much more than you, they can't keep up with demand?

It's completely flawed logic that even a five-year-old can understand.

For someone in such a high up position, I surprised he dont know the defintion of infinite.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Calm down Sony fanboys. No one is disputing that people can find one system more fun than another, that isn't why Stringer is being hammered. It is that he said the PS3 has "infinitely" more fun games. That is an unbelievably stupid statement that shouldn't be made by anyone more mature than a typical teenage fanboy.

The other point of ridicule was his stated happiness with Nintendo only selling Wiis faster than any other console in history and cleaning the floor with the PS3 everywhere. That isn't as outright absurd but still pretty absurd.

Stringer has been possessed by the spirit of Katuragi

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

"...infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting..."

I would understand if he just said "more fun" considering he's the Sony chairman, but "infinitely"??
Wow, that is a LOT more fun.

So if Wii games are a 1 on the "fun scale", PS3 games are...?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

For me, they are more fun, I much more of an old school gamer thats all. Not to say Wii games arent fun, ill be looking forward to playing SSBB. But im happy with COD4 and Uncharted all the same :)

This was so funny, that i had to quote this. :) I'm not bashing you or anything like that, it's just that you are still so young. You see, even that Wii is the most modern console at the moment (or would post-modern be better word?), it offers the most old-school experience in the most modern way. And then there's Virtual Console, for real old-school experience, in real old-school way. @le_patriote&Outlaw: About parents buying consoles for their kids, some buy something instead, if they can't find what kids wanted, although most don't buy. Some buy console for their kids, without kids even asking. And then there's the other relatives, who buy consoles for familys kids, and who don't understand the importance of having a specific console.

yeah bdbdbd seriously when that kid said he is much more of an old school gamer i thought he was gonna say he likes the wii a lot more. silly young kids who started playing games last gen and don't know what old school means. i especially like when he mentions COD4 as though a first person shooter is old school. very funny.

I see how me playing on the NES and SNES as my first consoles is me starting last gen. Well done making assumptions "old man". How is 17 a kid? Honestly.

Old school was the wrong term to use admittedly, but I think the point I was making was pretty clear without being pulled up over a technicality. Its called semantics, old school in terms of the console generation would look back at the NES/SNES standard controller interface, which isnt what the Wii provides.

Plus, FPS has been an established genre for nearly 20 years..not exactly a recent innovation in gaming is it?

I don't think ilovetogame wanted to bash you either. So, why 17yo is a kid? You know it after ten years. You're in an age, that you have your own brains and are capable of independent thinking, but you just don't have the experience to use them correctly. Also, your brainchemistry is in an state of constant change, which influences your thinking and sometimes even confuses. What your brains hunger is testosterone and endorphines (which the FPS games really do offer). The change will stop before the age of 25. So that's why you're a kid. You're not stupid, you just don't know enough. I understood at the first place what you were meaning with old-school, but, as i said, i found it funny. You're right, FPS isn't exactly a new innovation (but compared to some genres it is), but you said old-school and named a modern FPS in the same sentence. Look at the old FPS:s and compare them to new ones, you propably see a big difference (i don't mean graphics). Think the simplicity in Wolfenstein or Doom, and then think the complexity in Halo or Resistance. Difference is almost as big as between 2D platformers and 3D platformers. The old-school, was the ease and simplicity in gaming. Although Wii offers a new way to play, it went old-school by basics, by making things simple again. While 360 and PS3 offers the same that has been popular for the last ten years, they still make gaming more complex than what it has been in the last ten years. It propably is hard to see for someone who have got used to play that way, but everyone new to gaming can see the difference easilly. Now, on my behalf, you can play and enjoy whatever games you like and it's nice to see that you have found your favourite game/genre/way to play games, but it may change sometime in the future.
