So if Wii games are a 1 on the "fun scale", PS3 games are...?

Over 9000.

I enjoyed Resistance: Fall of Man when I had the PS3. But other than that Heavenly Sword was a kiss-ass of God of War, and Madden NFL 08 looked like a beta and Warhawk was rather retarded because I was new to Warhawk and they could of at least broke the skill level down for certain new users to the game.

Yep motorstrom is the better game.

Im my opinion, Motorstorm sucked. I played two games of it, and that was enough for me. My prerequsite for ANY racer is that it feels fast - not slow, like its stuck in mud (which Motorstorm is!).

Excitetruck is easily the superior racer for me.

First of all Stringer is the chairmen of Sony. He is not specifically public relations. Secondly he has been critical of the PS3 in the past. Given that there is no reason to say he is full of shit. You should judge a person on their past actions. He has not been prone to ridiculous claims. In fact he is one of the few corporate execs to comment on gaming that I respect. There is very little in the way of spin and balderdash.

He simply said he thinks that the high end gaming in Sony's future will overcome Nintendo's casual appeal. The statement isn't necessarily bogus. This year even given the sales of the Wii the high end games have done incredibly well across many formats.

Titles like Halo 3, Bioshock, the Orange Box, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Madden have all displayed that the core market is still very strong. That said increasing your offerings for such market might help a lot. Anyway compare the announced lineups for next year of the PS3 versus the Wii.

Nintendo has two very strong titles next year in Mario Kart, and Smash Brothers. Both titles should do exceedingly well. However Sony has Home, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, and many other high end games on their platform. Put succinctly if you believe high quality games sell consoles. You should believe that Sony should start to perform much better.

I doubt Sony can overcome in the West considering its competing with another product that offers the exact same thing in the 360. However there is light for the PS3 in Japan. The only question is how well the high end games will do for the PS3. The console philosophy is a well founded one more high end high quality games generally cause a console to sell better.

Anyway hyperbole aside it seems rather obscene to call the man what amounts to a stuffed shirt when he has agreed with much of what these very forums have said. Not only has he agreed that the format was a mistake, but that the price was excessive. Further more he is placing faith in great games which the PS3 just did not have enough of this year. Will it work thats for the future to decide, but he is hardly a lunatic for thinking so.

Rip on the likes of Tretton they do deserve it, but the level headed guy making a opinionated statement about library quality mattering in the near future is hardly public relations spin.

There is definite reason to say he is full of shit.  He is a Sony Chairman.  He has a vested interest in seeing the company and its products do well.  To think that those facts do not color his perception and bias his judgments is foolish.  Whether or not you respect that man also has little bearing on the truth or lack thereof within his statements.

He simply said he thinks that the high end gaming in Sony's future will overcome Nintendo's casual appeal. The statement isn't necessarily bogus. This year even given the sales of the Wii the high end games have done incredibly well across many formats.

The statement that Sony's Japanese head office will be hit by a meteorite isn't necessarily bogus either but its odds of happening are comparable if past trends continue.

Perhaps most disconcerting here is the assumption that your "core market" cannot be satisfied by the Wii's current offering and future offerings.  Also, comparing lineups is foolish and you know it.  Sony is tossing out future lineups all the time... and delaying launch dates making them worthless all the time.  Just because Sony posts its wishlist of games it would love to see in the coming year while Nintendo holds off on its list does not make Sony's lineup for the year superior.

Nintendo has two very strong titles next year that you know about.  You are comparing one unknown quantity to a known possibly deceptive quantity.

I doubt Sony can overcome in the West considering its competing with another product that offers the exact same thing in the 360. However there is light for the PS3 in Japan. The only question is how well the high end games will do for the PS3. The console philosophy is a well founded one more high end high quality games generally cause a console to sell better.

If high end games cause a console to sell better, how is it that the PS/PS2 beat the n64/GC?  Those platforms could definitely boast higher end games as well as high quality games.  No I'm sorry but there are a lot of other factors such as development costs, profit margins, and the like that affect this situation.

I don't care what his beliefs or past actions are.  If the man suddenly started vomitting, throwing up, and acting like a lunatic I'm going to assume he has something wrong with him even if he's been healthy for the last 5 years.  The same applies here.  It is unwise to take his statements at face value and assume that just because his past actions have seemed unbiased that his current and future ones will be as well.

Rip on the likes of Tretton they do deserve it, but the level headed guy making a opinionated statement about library quality mattering in the near future is hardly public relations spin.

If he is so level-headed, where did this statement come from?

***warning - this post contains heresy***

Based on my experience so far I have enjoyed and played on my ps3 more than my Wii:

PS3 games:

Motorstorm - excellent gameplay and graphics but it's frustratingly low on content.

Oblivion - almost everything about it I HATED. My worst PS3 purchase so far, and how I longed for an awesome rpg at the time :(

Virtua Fighter 5 - disappointing. It lacks content and looks average (for a ps3 game). Gets boring and repetitive quickly.

Assassin's Creed - did not live up to my expectations. Enjoyable at first, looks fantastic and can be engrossing but ultimately the combat does not work and it's far too easy.

Call of Duty 4 - fantastic. My game of the year. I've played through single player twice and have clocked up 40 hours online multiplayer (which is just as beautiful, thrilling and satisfying to play as the single player mode. No lag, delays or anything like that (although sometimes lobbies close without warning which is frustrating). And I don't usually like FPS games...

PS3 Conclusion - 2 fantastic games, 1 average game, 1 below par game and 1 dreadful game.

Wii games:

Resident Evil: Wii Edition - The best Wii game I own so far, it's very enjoyable. The first genuinely good use of the wiimote as far as I'm concerned. It looks impressive for an essentially revised old game, the gameplay is enthralling and immersive and there is a nice variety of enemies and locations and bonus content.

Wii play - ergh. cheap and tacky comes to mind. The only remotely enjoyable game is tanks everything else is frankly shit. Even when factoring in the wiimote with the cost its a rip-off.

Wii sports - It suffers from what a lot of the early ps3 games suffered from, it lacks any depth, replayability and just doesn't hit the spot. Enjoyable at first and with a group of people but I haven't played it since the first month.

Wario Ware - This is akin to Wii play. This game and the next one have made me extra cautious about so-called recommendations. Why does everyone think this is so good? It's the same dynamic over and over again. It also looks rubbish and plays badly, and unlike Wii play it isn't even at a reduced price.

Zelda - Oh dear me. It's supposed to be one of the best games ever made, why exactly? It's one of those games I just don't 'get', like Warcraft or Halo. I've tried so hard to like it and I've played it for many hours but I just don't like it and I've given up. If it weren't for all the hype I would have given up on it a long time ago, so I blame y'all for this one.

Wii Conclusion - 1 fantastic game, 1 average game, 3 dreadful games.

I have high expectations for my christmas games though:

Guitar Hero 3 (ps3)
Madden NFL '08 (ps3)
Uncharted (ps3)

Metroid Prime (wii)
Super Mario (wii)
Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (wii)

You might want to avoid Mario and Sonic. It is supposed to be another one of those minigame collections you seem to dislike so much.
