Its a really fun game so far....there's loads of genre's to choose from and different types within those genre's....you can give direction points....you can even say "hey get this game out quickly" .That makes quality will go down though.

Anyone else playing this?

I got hooked on Game Dev Story for about two days.  The first play through is fun because you're still figuring out the game and struggling to stay alive...and then you figure it out.

On my second playthrough (and not even keeping my stats) I was making 80 #1 selling games every time about 2-3 times a year after the first five years.  It just became kind of a joke after that and stopped being fun long before I reached the year 20 mark where I had multiple revisions of my own consoles, billions of dollars, and more than 10 games in many different franchises.

Its very addictive so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol its nothing like real games development is it?

lol, oh God no.  It's a fun little "sim" with a game development wrapper, but I really don't think a team of 6 producers could make 3 90 25 million selling games a year.

-edit-

And just to add, it is fun, I just wish it were a little more deep.  Sure, there's like 30 genres and game types but after a point those really stop mattering.  You just pick the most popular one and then worry about making sure your developers are all trained.  In that case, you're only worrying about a small number and there's even little control over that.

I wish they would let you keep growing your studio and allow you to have multiple teams .  Like if the next studio upgrade were 32 people and I could then decide to have anywhere from 1-4 teams working simultaneously, that would be neat.  It still wouldn't make it like actual game development but it would help keep it interesting.  Right now, I don't think it would be even possible for me to come close to running out of money unless I just did nothing and let the game run for about 25 years game time.

Ah... you put iphone in your thread title.. that drives people away.. >_>

ot: fun game.. but I'm too occupied with Let's create Pottery.. which is actually totally relaxing...

Story mode is great...

You should all get addicted to Words With Friends, I'm getting tired of destroying random people in games.  For random games, I lose something like 1-20.  With my wife and sister I maybe lose liek 1-10.

One of the most addictive games ever, but like Twestern said, at one point you have so much money and

games that it's not as fun anymore...

I'll try the facebook one. The ipod one is good, and very addictive, but after you know how to make money, its just gets quite boring. The only thing I fail to make was a 40 rated game >.>

I managed to make a few and surprisingly enough they never made game of the year, it was always my games in the 35-37 where there was nothing special that made that.  I could have a game that had 200 rating in everything and would even have a 300 rating, get a perfect score, and would win every other award but not game of the year.  And then I would have another game that would be below 200 in everything, get around a 35, and win game of the year.

The game of the year award and reviews were just all around random and felt silly.

My theory was that it had to be a 'Popular Mix', but some times the most unexpected game was game of the year ^_^

And the Facebook app, meh. Instead of hiring workers, you hire friends, -.- *removed*
