I dunno. Aren't you the same guy that "lol" at Halo Reach sales because Black Ops did better? If you can "lol" at Reach, than you must ROFL at GT5. |
I don't think I did, but I may have.

It's only low in America everwhere else the game sold really well. Next week will be the real test when we see the entire week of sales. It did over a mil in others only in a few days I see next week around 800k just in others. 200k in the NA and 130k in Japan. It will probably maintain 400k a week through the Holidays if not slight more. I say 5mill by end of the year.

I ll wait for PD numbers, doesnt matter higher or lower at least i ll know correct numbers.
For me the sales were right on the money, just like I predicted months ago. I told you fanboys GT5 was not going to sell 11 million copies YTD. lol!! Fanboys kept spouting on about Europe and how it will sell 2.5 million in Europe it's first week. lol!! NOT!! My predicition was 2.-2.5 million worldwide at laumch and 3-3.5 million by the end of the year. YTD sales would be 6-7 million overall. No where near GT3 or GT4 sales. Like I said, the PS3 doesn't have over 100 million userbase like the PS2 did, so sales are NOT going to be as high as those games. Europe and Japan makes no difference. Maybe fanboys will listen next time. I've been following the numbers for games for almost 2 decades now.

I doubt it. America sales were actually higher then Japans. The only place it really sold well in was Others. Sales in the U.S. and Japan are going to drop like a rock. Next week it'll probably sell 700K- 900K ww. After that it'll be below 300K for the rest of the year after that.

I think it did really good considering the quality. Remember that this is a game averaging a lower score than a short-dev-cycle need for speed game (85% vs 88% on gamerankings.com) and a variety of disappointed reviews that complain about worse-than-expected AI, corner-crash racing, poor damage modeling and racing physics that are still inferior to those in the Forza series. That's based on the two reviews I've read (IGN, Arstechnica).
Europe sales are excellent.
Japan sales are OK
As for America, I'll wait for next weeks numbers considering I didn't see any numbers until a few days after Black Friday. I'm expecting a small drop off here.
GT5 did pretty good in my opinion. Not great only because the hype for it was extremely high, and it was black Friday week.
Otherwise, this is poised to be the best PS3 exclusive easily. It will not sell enough to be the best GT game though - as I figured.

| Hyruken said: Just thought i would point out GT4 sold 50% of it's total sales at by 8 weeks point. 40% by its first 4 weeks and 35% by its first 2 weeks on sale. Prologue followed pretty much the same pattern. So assuming GT5 follows the same pattern as the other 2 games the first week sales indicated 25% of potential total sales meaning GT5 would just make it to 8m units. Of course that only counts if the pattern is followed. Anything could happen to change it. I doubt there will be another 6 years until the next GT game this time around so that could effect it to. If we get another GT game in 2 years that will effect sales massively. |
This is incorrect. GT5: Prologue only sold 655k its first week, constituting only 16% of its current 4 million total according to VGChartz, not to speak of its 5 million shipment total. As of week 2, it had sold only 1.018 million, putting it at 25%. Week 4 it was at 35%, and week 8 it was at 42%.
Granted, I expect GT5 to be somewhat more frontloaded, but not considerably so. If the game's first week ends up being around 20% of its lifetime sales (right between GT5:P and GT4), it would still break 10 million. But that all depends on how long this gen lasts.
