GT5 first week numbers. How do you think it did?

Great 154 29.73%

Good 178 34.36%

Average 85 16.41%

Not so good 46 8.88%

Disappointing 55 10.62%

Total:518

Good sales. Not amazing but good. Next five weeks should show does it has chance to 10 million. If it's still behind GT4 pace after holidays (or only little ahead) it will never do 10 million. Also considering that according pretty much every forum it had pretty minimal advertizing during its first week we could see smaller than usual drop for second week. Of course holidays are helping too. Especially in EMEAA I expect pretty minimal drop next week....

Did great no matter how you look at it. It sold 2 MILLION week 1. Most games can't reach that in their LTD.

Amazing? No

Disappointing? HELL NO

Is GT5 Successful: Hell YES

Only thing I wanna say is, it wasnt a full week yet. It was only sales for 3-4 days depending on what country you are in

The Game sold 2 million copy its first week, how the hell does anyone find a way to be disapointed by that number? How many PS3 first party game has sold that many LTD period?

i think it did good...it would easily did 3 mill with a full week and some advertising...but the ads are coming christmas time...lets see how it does the next weeks...

I don't like the options in the poll. One option should have been "below expectations, but good none-the-less". 'Cause that's an exact reflection of my view.

a) It's a better first week than any other HD console racer this gen, right?

b) Uncharted 2 launch with less than 1/2 that amount and it's at 4 million now. That means 8 million for GT5 is not out of the question within 1/5 - 2 years (I know launch week doesn't translate to LTD, but still most people were saying 2 million LTD for Uncharted 2).

c) 20% lower launch than GT4 => 20% lower LTD = 8 million-ish.

d) 2 million FW = 4.9% attach rate within 4 days. You simply CAN'T be disappointed with that.

GT isn't what it was on PS1 and PS2, but it's still a great franchise with a sizeable player base. I think the lower LTD sales than GT4 will be a good motivator for PD to get the finer details right off the track, so to speak.

If GT6 launches on PS3 and it addresses all the gripes people have about GT5, and it also expands on GT5, GT6 could  sell even better than GT5. If GT6 is a launch title for PS4 and it does all those things then it will be an excellent and major HW selling bit of SW for PS4.

So GT still has a bright future, if PD keep moving the franchise forward.

None... but we are all aware this is Sony's biggest IP.

A lot of Sony fans wanted this to the biggest launch week for the series, but it was pretty far from it.

I find strange the 1,8 million in two days and only 2,1 in four-five days...

Maybe it would make more sense if we had a breakdown of each day.

My guess is day 1 was a vast majority of sales.

I dunno.  Black Friday (26th) was vast majority of sales.

Anyway GT5 was undertracked in EMEAA.

You seem to presume GT5 sold most units on Black Friday. You don't know that and I'm sure you're wrong.

It likely sold most copies on launch day. The pre orders in Americas were 280k which is more than half of what it sold in Americas. Black Friday probably gave a small boost for the week.

It seems some PS3 fans are in denial about these sales.
