I also think bbc was stupid to do what they did... didnt they think they'll make any enemies? corruption or no corruption,  showing that before the draw is stupid

Whilst I think the timing of the Panorama airing was a little strange, I think it wouldn't have done the BBC any favours if England had won and then it was found at a later date they deliberately held back the airing so as not to harm the bid, which ironically the Panorama gave evidence of the implication that it wouldn't have mattered when it was aired anyway.

And if corruption is proved whether it's the English FA or FIFA it should be made public regardless of how it hurts bids.

BBC Panorama uncover mass coruption in FIFA

England world cup bid comes last in FIFA vote

...

and Russia wins...

...

yes, FIFA is clearly clean as a whistle, they have interests beyond making money from backhanders...

Actually Fifa and UEFA are expanding football beyond the traditional nations.  Any corruption talk is nothing but the old powers being girlyman about someone else hosting the big party.

EXACTLY

What does UEFA a European body have anything to do with world cup football Nothing and who exactly are the new powers Russia, Spain(yes, they were good before, but not as remotely good as they are today)  for example? Qatar? who've never actually participated in a world cup tournament? I agreed on the bolded part of his post

Anybody trying to deny that there is corruption going on in FIFA is just throwing their credibility out the window. I dont particularly think that any of the candidates for 2018/2022 "deserved" to host the World Cup, but this whole selection process has been an absolute farce and I can only hope that some day the obvious corruption gets exposed.

There is absolitely no evidence that suggests that FIFA is corrupted. If anyone is corrupted, thats UEFA and in favour of England and Italy

Do I really need to point out the evidence that has become open over the last month or so of FIFA corruption? Are you that naive?

I'm glad for those celebrating on the results of the World Cup allocation for 18/22, but it's foolish to pretend the whole selection process is not corrupted and entirely down to money/power.

Yes

Well FIFA obviously think they have corruption.  They just suspended two guys following the investigation by the Sunday Times.... so yes.. there is corruption.  Did you miss that?  must have huh?

The fun part is that while one guy fell on his sword right away...

the other guy caught in the sting swears FIFA knew of the money and approved the donations.

FIFA should be offering him some money to right shut up.

Your behaviour is poor. You didnt even read what Qatar had to offer. The stadiums that will be built will then be taken apart and donated afterwards to 3rd world countries(yes donated). Another thing, the stadiums will be airconditioned with green technology in order to get too hot inside the pitch.. u heard it.

Your beahviour is disgraceful

I'm sure Ethiopia or someone will really welcome a football stadium!?!?

how about some water and food first?   or perhaps a shit load of free oil?

please.... spare me.

Ha, that's exactly what my girlfriend said.  Well it went more like this.

"I guess one of the Qatar stadiums is going to be built on an artificial penisula into the gulf and then after the world cup it's going to be dismantled and sent to third world countries."

"Sent to third world countries... for what?"

"I guess they're going to split it up into regular sized football stadiums or something."

"Uh... ok... I think they'd rather have like... homes and food."

I can only imagine what that money could do for the poor... or anybody.

When people say rich people in the US have too much money... my god.  What a waste.

The fact that they are building stadiums that are going to be torn down again is if anything a further proof towards the waste of having it there.

Though I think it's just the one that's being torn down... the rest I think they are keeping.  Like the one in university city will be used for college games or something.

Whilst I can somewhat understand Russia as they have decent teams and a fairly talented national side, what exactly have Qatar done to deserve this other than having a lot of money? The national team is one of the worst ranked in the world, below many other Middle-Eastern countries yet they're given a free ride to the world cup?

Shouldn't countries prove themselves by already having at least a modicum of investment in football prior to making a bid? With all the money that's there, why hasn't there been a significant investment in football before?

But FIFA suspended its corrupted officialls (6 of them, i believe), so its pretty clear that corruption is gone and if it isnt, FIFA is wiling to act against it.  Plus, most of the links you gave me are british, of course THEY are gonna bitch

So whats the point of calling it a world cup? And other countries cant jus ''pick up'', they need something to push football as sport in that country. Look what WC 2002 did in Japan andn Korea, they are both pretty solid national teams and they were pretty  bad before the WC 2002

Except more then one has stated what they did was specifically approved by Fifa.

The suspensions were just Fifa trying to stop the probes at just them.  Cutting their losses.
