Forums - Sales - Black Ops xbox360 has already outsold halo reach

I agree with libellule. I mentioned this in another thread even, COD simply is the bigger franchise now. Back when it was first announced most people seemed to think that Black Ops' sales would suffer because it was made by Treyarch, but that obviously isn't the case. I mean the series has even found a pretty respectable niche for itself in Japan even. At this point I don't think it matters who the developer is, it would still sell gangbusters. And although the reasoning was understandable most people also thought Reach's sales would grow compared to H3 because of the dramatically larger install base.

believe it has to do with it still being semi modern had in been pre ww2 doubt it would have those sales

thats why i knew ahead of time that BOs sales would eclipse MW2 on both consoles including the ps3

the weapons and environments are still pretty modern, players can better relate to them rather than in sci fi shooters

the big 3 better take notice in this next gen

i believe if one had there own exclusive modern FPS developed by one of there top 1st party devs they would easily take the crown in marketshare

I think Sony fans have more interest in this topic than anyone else.

Oh well, MS will just have to settle with Halo being bigger than all of Sony's shooters combined.

Nothing surprising here. Cod was bigger on the 360 when mw2 was released. This just further confirms it.

I think that Reach will have long-tail sales, where Black Ops will likely trail off when the next CoD is released. Halo3 continued to sell well during CoD4 and 5, and probably could have sold more if it weren't for ODST packaging the most popular Halo3 game-modes. MS will likely bundle Reach at some stage.

As for MS' exclusive strategy, they seem to be focussing on titles which make sell. And making the 360 appear to be the "default" system for popular third-party titles would likely shift some hardware for new buyers.

MS does publish quite a lot of XBLA exclusive games which are very good, I think MS and everyone is making a lot of money right now on software, which is the major point of a business.

True, but I would say 99.9% of people that bought Black Ops (pretty much the entire generation population.. i.e. non-fan-boys) have no idea who Treyarch and Infinity Ward are.  Ask a random person in line at Walmart buying a black ops game and that person would have no idea that different people put out COD games every other year.

Let alone they probably think Black Ops graphics are the best in gaming too. >.>

@mr. pugsly  your not tired of trolling PS yet??? Why would PS3 fans have more interest in this article?? Its about a 360 game, what your saying isnt even making any sense. Now if we were talking how close the PS3 version of BO is to Reach sales wise then you might be on to something. I think some 360s might be a little shocked that the all mighty Halo is official dethroned. No amount of PS3 hating will change that

Naive you are. Sony fans boast about Black Ops out performing Reach because they also have Black Ops.

360 fans are just glad CoD is breaking records on the 360. PS3 fans are just happy its out performing Halo.
