Call of duty. Let's face it that shit is huge!

Little Big Planet, for the ''Play.Create.Share'' genre

Are people serious with Wii Fit? Wii Sports I get. But the majority of Wii Fit's audience will have alzheimer's in 20 years! Just because something sells a lot doesn't mean it'll be remembered. Norah Jones sold like 30 million copies of her debut album and no one remembers that ho.

I must say, I used to never have an interest in realistic war shooters.  But then I tried CoD4, and now I have to get everyone that comes out!

I sure hope my son doesn't have Alheimer's when he's 25.  He loves Wii Fit

Wii Sports and nothing else. Only ridiculously old-fashioned losers will remember stuff like CoD, Halo, GT, Wii Fit, etc. Wii Sports, on the other hand, will be the Super Mario Bros of tomorrow. The gamers of tomorrow will look back at it fondly whilst complaining that Nintendo have strayed from their ways and are neglecting their true audience.

hahahaha  u do realise that CoD, halo and GT are more lily to be remember that wii sports XD. In 20 years time people will prob still be playing them XD. Sales arnt everything but when a game sells 10 million easy people remember it XD Wii sports is just that game that come with wii, u play it, u go get a proper game XD

You're not serious, are you?

Firstly, sales matter. If no one (or very few people, in comparison) played the game, no one (again, very few people) will remember it. Also, why the heck won't people be playing Wii Sports when they're playing CoD and GT? Trust me, only "core" gamers give up on a game as fun as Wii Sports after a few weeks. 20 years later, every time somebody new comes home, my Wii will still be intact, waiting for a game of baseball, :P. Besides, like it or not, CoD, Halo and GT are more of the same. There have been popular shooters and racers forever; even new IPs in this genre will probably be forgotten. Wii Sports is drastically new. If any games follow it in later gens, it'll be looked upon as a trendsetter. If they don't, it'll pretty much be regarded as one of a kind.

Its not even worth arguing with someone who just said gran turismo and Cod are the same thing XD. I actually laughed when i read that. keep up the good work, i like a good laugh :D

Now I don't want to be trollish, but you really should read more if English is your mother tongue. "More of the same" means "stuff that's already been done", not "the same thing".

I'm disgraphic so my ability to display words and sentences is somewhat lacking ^^ Good side though is my mathematic skills where among the highest in my school :D

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

Conegamer - I say that the PS3 will beat the DS next week in Japan  (for hardware sales) Forfeit is control over others avatar for 1 week.

When VH1 does its "I Love the 2010's" special in twenty years, I actually believe that Wii Fit will be among the things that people remember.

Anyway, with your "for selling a lot" point, aren't you basically saying that WS will be remembered? It makes sense, too, since if 100m people played a game that was quite a new experience at a time, it will most likely be remembered more than a game that sold 20m and was a great experience. Besides, MGS would have to rely on a pretty tiny base to be remembered and most likely would not be very remembered at all even if it emotionally connected with almost all of its audience.

...I can't believe we're seriously arguing something as subjective as "will be remembered" this thoroughly.

The problem with comparing wii sports to something liek CoD is that with wii sports its a game u dont get a choice it buying when i got my wii (though i sold it the year after) i played it for about half an hour before moving onto a dif game. Where as with cod the 20 million people that got it, got it with the intention of actually wanting to own it and play the game. I'm shore the toys in happy meals sell million but no one remembers most of them because they didnt buy it wanting it, was just a freebie that comes with the pack ^^

Chibi - Eh, everybody online seems to be best at something in their respective schools. Must be a hell lot of geniuses online, :P.

Anyway, people were clearly impressed with Wii Sports and wanted more considering that Wii Sports Resort sold like 17 million without being bundled and showed no signs of stopping. It would have probably done at least as much as any CoD if it had been allowed unbundled legs. If you wanna use anecdotal evidence, I wouldn't have got my Wii if it weren't for my sister falling in love with Wii Sports. My point being that more people bought the Wii because of Wii Sports than people bought Wii Sports because of Wii.
