The problem being that I can hear someone bitching that they're discussing sales in a sales thread. So I'm having to give a general warning first, that it is spamming, and thus, I will be ruthless next week about it.

Nonetheless, it should also stop NOW in this thread. It's more than derailed things here already.

When the preview seems to be consistently off on certain things, and have a huge bias towards other certain things, people will bitch.

Until these things get solved... People will bitch.

OT:
Kinda underwhelming numbers for PS3, but good enough numbers for GT5.

Will I get banned or warned for posting comparisons between the preview and real numbers? For example "Preview says Wii sold 70,000 while in reality it sold 90,000. PS3 sold so and so..." Etc.

GT5 did fall within the range estimated by the Preview.

And, please read my previous comment. With just one tracker it's far to early to say what the final numbers will look like.

This is true the numbers could increase or decrease by a few thousand.

It's not comparing that I have a problem with; if it stayed there, I'd be fine. But for at least the past 2 months, all the Japan sales threads have been the same- a few posts about the reported trackers sales, another couple posts comparing it to the preview (fine), and then it devolves into people bitching how it's always off, TheSource is biased, etc. And then it becomes yet another bitch about the preview thread. I'm not going to try to stop comparing sales on a sales forum; that's just stupid. But the deevolution that I'm against is when the thread is no longer about the sales numbers.

If you, or anyone else, for that matter, has any other questions about this, please feel free to wall or PM me, as this is also drifting from the actual topic.

I guess, to give a more concrete example-

A: Item X sold 75K according to (tracker), preview was off, having it at 60K.

B: What's new, preview's always undertracking X?

C: Yeah, and TheSource is biased toward Y, because X is always under.

Person A will have no action taken against them. (It's polite, and keeping the focus on the numbers.) The problem is that the thread rapidly becomes more of people B and C. Those are the ones I would moderate for spamming.
