I mean, by the end of 2006 x360 sold less then 8 mln. Just 7,96.

By the way, isn`t that a failure for a console, which on second it`s year sold less then in it`s first year?

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Big problem CrazzyMan: The Xbox 360 came out in 2005, so the grand total of 7.95 million consoles (which is the 360's total at the end of 2006) is not entirely from that year. The 360 sold closer to 6.6 million in 2006 alone.

Thus far this year, the 360 has sold... almost exactly 6.6 million, and thus has almost exactly matched its total from last year at this point, with 3+ weeks to go. It's certainly not a break away hit -- I'd argue that whatever total the 360 reaches isn't really a spectaculr number compared to a dominant console like the PS2 -- but it's still better than you're saying, and your original premise is wrong; the 360 WILL sell more this year than last.

It's likely the 360 will end the year with 7.5-8 million sold, worldwide, a 15-20 percent increase in sales overall, year over year.

But beyond that -- what country are you talking about? What country exists between America and Japan?

This thread was definitely made to ask a serious question, and not just a failed attempt to call doom on the 360.

Like Bodhesatva said, it has already sold as much as it did last year, before the shopping season begins in earnest.

Because 360 is selling better in Japan? Amerians buy alot of 360 because its american product. The only neutrals here are Europe, there even your precious 360 is selling.
