Forums - General - The reason why Eminem is the artist of the 21st century!

Anyone who listens to his verse in No Love that I just posted and isn't blown away by it know nothing about the rap genre.  PERIOD.  He just killed the mic so hard.  Lil Wayne is seen as a great rapper and his verse looks laughable next to em's.  This verse is being universally agreed on as one of the best in a long time if not ever.

Rap music sucks. Eminem sucks more than real rappers because he is a white punk ass rapper. Eminem is around 40 years old and he is an aging rapper.

The good rappers like Tupac and B.I.G., etc were killed in their mid 20s and their young rap legend status lives on.

*Edit: Please disregard  my uneducated  opinions/views. I do not know anything about America or its people. The things I see on TV, Internet and in Hollywood films about America forms my views/opinions. I do not personally know anyone from America.

So why is he so universally heralded from every single corner of the music hemisphere?  Why do LEGENDARY rappers talk about how amazing he is? Why has he won so many awards and influenced the entire game of rap?

Oh but he sucks guys numonex said so I guess thats all that matters.  Listen I'm not even a big rap fan AT ALL, but why on earth would I disrepect someone as obviously talented as Eminem is by calling him a "punk ass rapper" if I wasn't a fan of rap.  Like the man himself said "Hater's can make like bee's with no stingers and drop dead."

This is the biggest problem facing our generation and the internet as a whole.  Everyone feels so self entitled and quick to disparage someone else's work and shit all over people just because they don't agree / like it.

I'm black. Does that make me a rapper? No, it doesn't, as I am firmly in upper middle class. It is where you are that defines you, not what race you are. There are a lot of poor white people living in sketchy neighborhoods too. Why can they not rap, but poor black people in sketchy neighborhoods can?

These stereotypes will only hold us as a species back. I'm black. I don't rap and I don't play basketball. I swim and play water polo.

You guys really need to stop taking nunomex seriously... he's just trying to rattle your chain.

Assuming english s your first language, you really need to upgrade your serious sensors.

On topic: I would go for rap artist of the century (so far) artist overall? He's a contender..

I can respect his work, but I don't like any of it. I despise rap heavilly.

glad i aint alone on this lol

Its always funny/cool/impressive when someone who is in the minority (of a certain activity) is the best at it.

What I mean by that is rap is dominated by black people but a white guy is arguably the best.

Other examples:

- Not really true currently but for a while the best NBA players were Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki, both white. Now James, Durant and Bryant are the best though. Also it can be noted that Nash is Canadian so the best NBA player was from a country with like 3 players.

- In NHL (basically all white) for a couple years Jarome Iginla (half black I think) was the best player, and a bit further back Grant Fuhr was one of the best goalies.

- Justin Morneau is one of the best MLB players and he's one of the very few Canadians. Mostly Americans in the MLB.

- One of the best guitarists ever (Hendrix) was black, while most classic rock bands are white.

it's a bit too early to pin the 21st century's bests.

Most of us will be dead before the 21st century is finished in 90 years time. 2000 to 2050 music will more than likely be long forgotten, second half of the century is more recent and stands out as the defining music. 2010 to 2100 is 90 years of music yet to be released.

Last century 1950 to 1980 stood out as the golden era for 20th century music: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, etc, Lots of legendary solo artists and bands defined the 50s, 60s and 70s as the best three decades of the 20th century.

My pop used to tell me: "If the music is not Rolling Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra or Elvis and  from the  golden period 1950 to 1980 than the music is not really worth listening to".

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but after the Slim shady LP, which released in 1999, the only masterpiece  Em made was The marshall mathers LP. And that was released in 2000 if im correct.

Credits to 'the marshall' but no he is not the artist of the 21 century... which is only ten years old...

lol I misread century and thought decade! While the century is just beginning and who knows if Marshal Mathers will be remembered as one of the greatest there is zero doubt he is of the past decade.

Also not sure if you guys have heard his new song with Wayne but his verse in this is absolutley INCREDIBLE.  When eminem is on his game its really something to witness.  This is easily one of my favorite verses he's ever done.

Fucking this.
