It strikes me as odd that people call him an asshole for giving tech and business arguments as to why Sony didn't go something like Kinect. I found the article very interesting and it deepened my understanding of the videogame industry. He doesn't seem te be putting Kinect down unnecessarily at all - it's just a frank discussion.

I would welcome a discussion like this from a MS or Ninty tech guy explaining why they did what they did. Ultimately, the big three have all done well, so I don't think you should get so pissed off.

Are people not allowed to say negative things anymore?

to the top part...what? i don't get what he means by the frame-rate being to low to detect denim. that doesn't compute even a little.

to the bottom part...he works for Sony, obviously he's going to praise sony and point out flaws in competitors.

Read it again. he didn't say the "frame rate is too low to detect denim" he said the frame rate is too low AND its tough to detect certain materials like denim. And that may be true, they are using IR. IR can't detect certain materials, and can't be reflected from black hair.

It'd be very interesting if they had a discussion(with no PR/handlers present) with him and his equivalents from MS and Nintendo, talking about why they did and didn't go with the various techs. It would never happen though.
