Nier "bombed" due to its name.

Hey, in Nier, is that Kaine chick playable?  If I can actually control her, I may buy this game.

She'll be in your party and follow you everywhere, you can give her commands in the menu... but I always let her do whatever she wanted :P

If you buy the game I'll tell you a little secret about her :P

A banner stolen from some site xD

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

Alan Wake was actually a pleasant surprise for me as well. Not enough to make it #1, but a bit of a sleeper hit none the less.

So what you're trying to say is Alan woke up too early to be the biggest sleeper hit?

Or he should have been hit more while he did sleep. Either way, he wasn't hit enough in his sleep!

Intriguing. That's one school of thought. I felt disappointed as I was sold on the false premise of a smash hit success wake boarder named alan who could wake in his sleep despite the hits.

Sadly the game had nothing to do with Alan performing wake boarding while sleeping and thus was not a sleeper hit in my wake.

Yes... I know I try too hard.

I know when I'm bested. Good show sir. You shall be the popular kid, and I a mere sleeper hit around the playground.

Sakura Wars: So Long My Love - I always like quirty, unusual titles and I figured since this had elements of SRPG and adventure titles I'd enjoy it, but I didn't envision how much.  It really gripped me in a way few games do and I actually played it right through, which is rare for me.   At the final battle when my 'girlfriend' (who I had been working all game to court) 'dies' , even though you saw it coming, it still had a real emotional impact on me, 'Noooo! You @#$%ing bastard!'  A first for any game.

Sakura Wars So Long My Love on the Wii. I enjoyed it quite a bit and i got it for half price =).

3d dot game heroes (I did not open it yet but there has to be some reason i bought it :0)

Ditto.

I was going to come in here and be all special and say: "Nier!" since no one else would probably say that. Then I read through the thread and noticed quite a few people picked Nier as their sleeper hit - this proves VGC's awesomeness once again!

Too bad Cavia is no more. :'-(

Enslaved.  Characters, voice acting, and the facial animations were outstanding.  To me they more than made up for somewhat clunky camera and repetitive combat.  The DLC was real fun too.
