Forums - Nintendo - No more MOTION CONTROLS for NINTENDO?

Nintendo started to sell Wiimotes with built-in Motion Plus. Why would they do this if they were done with motion controls? Wii Remote Plus signals that Nintendo must have at least a couple of games besides Zelda in development, otherwise there wouldn't be much of a point in pushing an increase of the Motion Plus enabled installed base of the Wii.

Besides Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus, how much games Nintendo develop for the Balance Board?

Wii Music? Punch Out?

I dont really care what they do, as long as they include BC and someway to transfer your VC/WiiWare games to their next console i will buy it.

But i find motion controls enjoyable, i mean like small things. Like Twilight Princess attacking by shaking the wiimote alot of people did not like it at all but i liked it alot i thought it was a nice little extra compared to attacking with a button press or the spin in Super Mario Galaxy.

What i like about the wiimote/nunchuck combo is that they are very comfortable. With games that don't use alot of IR pointing, you can have your hands in a very natural position (to the side of you) when sitting in a couch or lying in your bed.

I wouldnt want them to do 3D yet though, i bought a new  32" LCD TV like 3 years go and i'm not ready to upgrade until, i dont know atleast 5 years.

I believe that the 'Super Wii' will have such an ability.  I think so as the 3DS can have DSiWare games transferred to it (which brings up the question why Nintendo didn't introduce a similar feature for the DSiXL).

I would also be very surprised if Nintendo didn't include Wii BC, considering how GC BC was apparently quite high up the list when they were designing the Wii.  What I'm not sure will be included is GC BC, depending on the architecture of the console, it could be possible or not.  If not GC on the VC?

If you can emulate Wii, you can emulate GameCube. It would be downright weird of them to do the former but not the latter.

If I were to guess, I can see one reason why they would drop GC support: disk size. The Wii needs a special way to be able to handle a disk that is smaller than a normal CD/DVD, and in a cost-cutting measure, I can see this being taken out. And, if you remove disk support, you can also remove the controller and memory card ports, also helping to reduce costs.

-On a quest for the truly perfect game; I don't think it exists...

I've always naturally assumed that microsoft and sony will make 100% motion control consoles and ninty will just switch over and completely steal their fanbase while they fight over whats left of motion.

This is my sig.

@azrael  Dont think so, MS & Sony depend too much on 3rd party support to do something wacky like that. Look at the upcoming PS3 games, most dont use Move at all. Most move games are hybrid anyway, I dont think we are going to see many Move only games outside of PSN. Which is the way it should be. And Kinect is getting a completly different set of games than the core ones. it kinda reminds me of SegaCD/32XandGenesis there almost like different consoles

I think he may have a slight point. In the short run Nintendo will use motion controls. However Nintendo officially from Reggie to Sakamoto to Iwata to Miyamoto. All have said that Nintendo will innovate again. That the next console will make our jaws drop, that the new console will innovate and revolutionalize the way we play games.

Miyamoto said that the next console will be made when they come up with new products they can't make for the current hardware. Essentially Nintendo wants to innovate again like they did with the Wii. This means that motion controls will probubly not be how we play games on the next Nintendo console.

Notice with the 3DS its not just a graphical upgrade its a revolution in how we play handheld games. In the same way I think Nintendo's next console will introduce a new way to play. I doubt Nintendo will stick with the current format. I bet their will be Backwards compatability, and that VC games can be transfered.

I think that the Wiimote will still be used on the next console like the GCN controller was usable this gen. But Nintendo will put a focus on what ever totally revolutionary device they launch next. The only thing that worries me is that if Nintendo always innovates sooner or later they will create a product consumers don't want. When they do their market share will go to hell and could lead to bigger problems.

Every time they revolutionalize they take a big gamble. Is that Gamble worth it?

I hope forced Motion Controls will stay far, far away from every even slightly important franchise. I had Eyetoy and it got old in a few hours. I have the Wii and it grew old in a few hours. I dislike the SixAxis Control.

Even if motion gaming is something "new" I can not see a real advantage over the standard controller, at least in my favourite Genres.

So I would be a full supporter for "no more FORCED Motion Controls" for any console. You should have the option to choose.

Motion doesn't inherently favor any of my favorite genres either, though it does get closer to the kb/m setup, making it arguably a better solution for shooters, sims and strategy games than dual analogs.  It's more than just party, fitness and rhythm games that benefit from motion interface, but unfortunately we just haven't seen it really exploited well in more "core" genres yet.

hmm yeah hes right ever since the Classic Controller Pro came out it had some developers attention to use that as a tradition Wii Gamepad..
