I think he may have a slight point. In the short run Nintendo will use motion controls. However Nintendo officially from Reggie to Sakamoto to Iwata to Miyamoto. All have said that Nintendo will innovate again. That the next console will make our jaws drop, that the new console will innovate and revolutionalize the way we play games.

Miyamoto said that the next console will be made when they come up with new products they can't make for the current hardware. Essentially Nintendo wants to innovate again like they did with the Wii. This means that motion controls will probubly not be how we play games on the next Nintendo console.

Notice with the 3DS its not just a graphical upgrade its a revolution in how we play handheld games. In the same way I think Nintendo's next console will introduce a new way to play. I doubt Nintendo will stick with the current format. I bet their will be Backwards compatability, and that VC games can be transfered.

I think that the Wiimote will still be used on the next console like the GCN controller was usable this gen. But Nintendo will put a focus on what ever totally revolutionary device they launch next. The only thing that worries me is that if Nintendo always innovates sooner or later they will create a product consumers don't want. When they do their market share will go to hell and could lead to bigger problems.

Every time they revolutionalize they take a big gamble. Is that Gamble worth it?
