Pachter pisses people off again, does this piss you off?

Yes, we already pay enough 71 81.61%

No, we should pay more to play online 16 18.39%

Total:87

It'll be a good way to prevent the cost of the boxed copies from rising too much by making the core/hardcore gamer pay even more. I have to support this because it doesn't effect me except to benefit me. When you've got 50M development and advertising costs for the next generation, you'd have to sell a lot of copies to make it back and if you don't you need something which rakes in serious cash to make up for that shortcoming. Most of the people complaining would probably pay if they thought the game was good enough.

I also bet the PS4 will have pay to play online as well.

Tease.

It will happen.

I'm willing to bet than in next few years there will be one unified fee to play WoW, Diablo III , Starcraft2  and CoD

I wished he was working at iGN... so the haters could hate in 1 thread and not make a new thread every time Pachter or IGN says something..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

NO thanks.

I pay for XBL and some people pay for PSN .

A new COD game is around $70-80 which is already way too much and Pachter wants us to pay some more?

As long as Valve stays Valve and keeps Team Fortress 2 free, I can go an entire generation playing that game. Oh and single player Nintendo games....I just hope they don't start charging fees also.

Lifetime sales prediction

Wii 79/150 million

Xbox 360 47.7/73 Million

PS3 43.6/69 Million

Is'nt all the DLC I pay for enough. I understand the fee,for the mmo's,but I could'nt justify if for a FPS.

In my opinion, I would think that things would need to change if this were to work. I'm already renting a lot of games because I'm not going to pay $60 USD for everything. I currently see little, if any interest in paying a subscription fee for any multiplayer game I want to play, especially if the cost of buying the game remains the same. Heck, subscription fee's will add up and I bet I'd be spending even more money to play games. I already don't play World of Warcraft and I doubt I'd be as interested as I am in playing multiplayer games if I have to pay a subscription fee for everything.

Apart from that, I would expect to see a hell of a lot of support and new content for the games. It's funny that Valve constantly tweaks and adds new content to a game like Team Fortress 2 yet content for other games goes for high prices. $15 for a map pack? $6 for some costumes? No thanks.

Going back to World of Warcraft, it might get expansions, but it's one big game world. If a game like Call of Duty or Madden go subscription based, are we still going to see yearly releases or will we see something similar to World of Warcraft with an expansion every few years adding more to the game, but the game is still tweaked and content is still added throughout the life of the game?

Frankly, I'd rather not have creativity and support stifled so the big companies can become lazy. I'm already concerned as it is.

He's only saying that because he's been predicting subscription fees since right after the release of WaW and there still aren't any... which is making him look like an ass.

Why do people still listen to him as if he is some kind of expert?

Above: still the best game of the year.

5 euro per online game, 5 games = 25 euro a month. If that happens you just can`t play casual online anymore, If you just want a quick round once a month when you`re bored, it wil cost you 5 euro/dollar. And a no go for young children who can`t get their parents to pay the fee. Also no multi gaming anymore, you can only pick a few games to play online each month. Except if you have enough money of course.

Woot?
