why will prototype,gta be exclusive?

GTA will be multiplat and if exclusive,it will be PS3 exlcusive more likely

alan wake and splinter cell will be too early, more likely for 2012

HALO WARS,PGR,VIVA RINATA is possible

L4D is in limbo as PS3 FPS gamers have significantly increased as you could see the COD sales

Not at all, if it's exclusive it'll be because someone has offered them money. No other reason, even then, why would they give it to the PS3, when GTAIV sold better on X360 ... such a bad business decision to make. Rockstar won't be thinking about yesterday (aka last gen) sales.

if you know even for GTA4 Rockstar furst went to SONY for exclusivity

they have a very good relation.SONY didn't want it as it wouldn't have mattered then as SONY would make a loss even if GTA4 sold consoles for SONY

also they did exclsuvity deals for their future 3 games to be exclsuive to PS3 but no game was indicated

and yeah they would give it to anybody who gave them money but do you think only MS would give them money and SONY won't?

yeah GTA4 sold  better but just a bit, even after they had a lead, that shows you that even on a lower base they sold only a bit more so please don't argue on this point

Aren't we over the "if its on PC and Console then its EXCLUSIVEE!!!!!11" bullshit?

Fuk sequals how about some new IP's to build up the library MS.....Looks like your making extra money  with Kinect

so why not buy new studios or make new exclusive games damnit, other than Gears3.. 2011 looks lackluster

GTAV is not going to be exclusive to anything, it'll launch on PS3, 360, PC and Wii2 in 2012.

L4D3 is also not going to be exclusive. Valve will most likely launch a dual pack L4D L4D2 with all DLC, and maybe new ones, next Fall for PS3, 360 and PC.

The age of exclusives is over, especially for shooters and dudebros, PS3 and 360 userbase is too big and to buy out an exclusive would be too costly. You can expect Gears 3, DQX and Agent to be the last ones, FFvXIII will go to the 360 as well, as will MH3G. IF MS wants to get some 3rd party exclusives and still be profitable with that exclusive, they should look at RTS games and/or Blizzard games with Battle.net. Age of Empires, Civilization V, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, WoW, etc would be major.

MS get at least half of their exclusives from 3rd partys, if it really did become difficult getting them, they will start buying studios. When they finally do bulk out their first party line up, they won't dissapoint.

MS can still buy out 3rd party exclusive games, but they will have to fork out more money. Put it this way, how much do you think Epic Games got from MS to have Gears 1 2 exclusive? At that time the PS3 was selling like shit and Gears wasn't a household name, so, at a guess, I would say U$20 million for both? Now, fast forward to Gears 3, the PS3 is selling much better and Gears is synonymous with AAA game, so, maybe it cost MS U$40 million to keep that exclusive, a Gears 4 would cost significantly more. Of course this is not just MS writing a check, it's waving royalty fees, paying for advertising, etc etc

Of course MS can buy studios, but, as MS, Sony and Nintendo have shown, it doesn't always pan out. Rareware is a POS developer nowadays, Jaffe and Campbell left Incognito to form their own studio and Incog had to be shut down, Monolith Soft hasn't produced games to the quality that Nintendo expected them to. I really love when people say X company should just buy out Y company when it doesn't really work like that, people don't like the management, leave and then what? You have a whole bunch of IPs and talent less individuals to run them into the ground. Buying studios is not as black and white as most people think it is.

3rd party exclusives will always exist. They just won't be as plentiful as years past.

Sure, hence why I said MS should focus on RTS games, especially with Kinect, they could be huge.

Well, I think that more recently MS has been focusing on Kinect TBH.  My feeling is that for the existing core they'll look to some further sequels (Gears 3 and the like) as well as securing a couple of exclusives from third parties (like Kingdoms) however, unless they are working on a lot of stuff they're keeping quiet I do think that in 2011 there may be less core exclusives than before.

To compenstate for this I do think MS will continue to invest in exclusive or timed exclusive DLC - such as with CoD.

It makes sense in that the existing base is secure and will remain with 360 for third party titles, of which there will be plenty.  MS probably don't see as much advantage right now in exclusives for the core vs focusing on Kinect and breaking into the more casual market.

I suspect if things do start to look weak for the core they'll quickly look to fund some further timed exclusives (even if just to annoy me as I hate timed exclusives on any platform!).

At this point though I think MS options are more limited.  Few third party developers want to be exclusive anymore and many third party titles sell between 40 to 50% on PS3, so just being on 360 doesn't look that great (nor being just on PS3).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

What about a game from that studio peter jackson was setting up. Wingnut Interactive they were meant to be making filmic games.  http://news.cnet.com/Microsoft,-Peter-Jackson-to-form-game-studio/2100-1043_3-6120230.html

You said the age of exclusives is over >_>

I'm just saying they'll never be over, even though they are not as plentiful.

Indeed, if MS or Sony ranaway with next gen, they'd likely get a lot of 3rd party exclusives again.
