I haven't seen Kinect or Move at Best Buy. I kind of detest Best Buy. But, I was at Sam's Club and they had a Kinect and my kids thought it was awesome. I also heard that the soccer game was one of the worst games on the disc. Whatever. I'm not a fanboy, but I bought Kinect and I think that my kids are going to love it(for Christmas). I think that people need to give Kinect a little bit of a break. Remember all of the Wii shovelware? No offense to Sony, but they blatantly copied Nintendo. I think they have a better product, that is much more accurate, but it is treading ground that had already been gone over. Kinect is totally new and different. I'm not saying that it is a huge success, BUT it is intriguing enough for me to make a purchase. Look at Dance Central. When the games are done right, they are great. I think people need to give it a bit more time before crapping on it so soon.

Welcome to the past Sir, it's called Eyetoy... Misinformed much? And besides, Sony has been working on a WAND concept YEARS before the "Wii was even an idea", so how Sony can copy something they already have had in R&D for years from another company is really amazing. If anything, Nintendo copied Sony (maybe after seeing some tech vidoes) and thought that might be a success and had the balls to go for it (because they were kind of in a bind after losing so bad to Sony for 2 gens, so they were trying to differentiate themselves, so they basically had nothing to lose). I am definitely not saying they did (copy Sony), but for all I know, they might've.

And besides, everyone copies everyone.

Be careful not to call someone misinformed whilst peddling faulty information yourself.  Sony can say that they were working on a wand before Wii, but Nintendo's reserch on motion control predates Sony's.  In fact, it was originally intended to be part of the Gamecube.  Furthermore, Microsoft had a motion controller (Freestyle Pro) YEARS before either Ninty or Sony marketed anything of the kind.

Your last statement is absolutely true... everyone copies everyone!

That's the reason why I put it in " ", because I don't really know exactly what's going on behind the curtains... but I guess I can not expect everyone to comprehend what I am thinking in front of the computer. Sorry about that =)

Anyways, the video demonstration from that guy on PS2 shows that this has been in Sony's mind for a long time. What we two are talking about are ideas vs ideas (at the PS2/GC stage), he was comparing Kinect vs something new, when there has been something called Eyetoy, SOLD ON THE MARKET, for YEARS. I think that is a bit different.

Anyways, apologize for the misunderstanding! I'll be more clear! Oh well, off to Sony Showroom in Ginza, and then Akihabara !! Great way to spend my Saturday. Enjoy your day.

Sure, I didn't get what you meant with the quotes.  I agree with what you "meant"

Have fun today!

At my local Best Buy they love kinect. Literally people are always around playing Dance Central. It seems to track them well but I noticed the game doesn't give great feedback as to your performance because the onscreen character is perfect no matter what but is highlighted red when you do something wrong. I saw a mother pick up 2 kinects for her children.

Yeah, I just don't see controller-less games working out. It's simply not accurate or resourceful. Motion controls will be the future, I'm almost certain of that, but I think there will always be controllers. People like to feel THEY are the ones in control of their game, and just moving around in front of a screen can't accomplish that.

its funny but I had the opposite experiance at my best buy, perhaps we both look at things the way we want to

Off topic:I have a feeling Kinect would be huge if Microsoft releases it for Windows UI.

C'mon Micro, you don't want Apple to take that first >_>.

On topic:

Also guys, anecdotal evidence = !world  ...

And you can always tell who is going to complain about it.

Oh the irony.

What's interesting is how directly the release of Kinect silenced Sony's Move from the public. media everywhere are pushing and talking about Kinect, but outside of PS3 commercials, nary a mention of the Move.

*This thread is not intended on starting a flame war*

During black friday today I went to Best Buy to purchase an iPad. Whille I was there I went to the video game section. There was a cool motion control area where one side had kinect and the other side had move. I never tried kinect before so I decided to try it. It was a soccer type game. I personally did not like that specific soccer game because well it seemed as if kinect was not reading my movements clearly. Then I went to go try the Move since i didn't try that before either. It was that table tennis game that I heard so much about. It was hard!!! But I was still amazed at the accuracy of it when i moved around my paddle. Anyways what i noticed was that many people were actually getting frustrated with kinect and going over to play the Move. While some people were playing kinect only a crowd of 3-5 people were wathing them. Then when people were playing disc golf for move there was a crowd of about 10-12 people watching. It seemed that people actually liked it. So who knows, maybe Move might actually be some competition to kinect here in the States.

Except that the CEO of Best BUy calls out everything BUT Move as a big seller today:

""So far, so good," Best Buy's CEO Brian Dunn said just hours after his stores' 5 a.m. opening. Dunn, who greeted eager bargain shoppers at the Eden Prairie store Friday morning, said the lines at stores were longer this year than last. Among the popular items were Best Buy's $400 Wii console and LCD HDTV bundle, smart phones and Microsoft's new Kinect for the Xbox 360, he said."

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?
