Am I the only person finding these numbers confusing?

No, me too.

Well, you have to remember 2 important things.  First, the holiday boost will always swing in Wii's favor, as it is not only the cheapest console, but it also appeals more to children (the group people mostly shop for during the holidays).  And second, this is the time of the year sales are harder to estimate, as things just go a little crazy.  There are almost always adjustments shortly after the holidays settle back to normal trends.  Personally, I think VGC maybe overestimating the boost for the Wii, while underestimating the boost for the PS3 and 360.

It appeals to family's, I'm 50 and my daughter is 19 and my sons are 28 and 29..see no children  nice attempt at a jab

May 360 and ps3 would like to appeal to the whole family at holidays

?? Just because you don't have children doesn't mean his point is incorrect. I'm pretty sure there are many more out there like you, but the Wii is the most friendliest console to kids vs 360 and most certainly PS3. I don't think it was a jab just a general observation .. don't take such offense.

not offended

Well my observation is that it selles to everyone not just kids

And  "these numbers don't look right" are funny.  4 years running the Wii has crushed the holiday competition, that is a trend. This holiday it looks like wii sales are less then last year but you can't expect it drop by half or three quarters. It is more a gradual thing

good sales all around, though Sony should do something to bring up the PSP/PS3 sales in the NA

From working in retail I get the same feelings, PS2 did this, and now Wii is doing this, it's quite common for a 40 something year old woman to come in asking about Wii games you ask if its for their kids and they'll say oh no they're grown up and out of the house and say the games are for them or the husband, typically the Wii ____ series if its for her or some of the more old school games for the husband.

With PS2 it was similar just most people asking for the Spyros, Jaks, R&Cs, and such.

Good numbers...from what I saw on black friday...there are going to be some nice results, for this week in NA.

share, please.

Share?  I saw alot of people with game consoles and software.  I'm currently down in NC for turkey day, and while best buy and many retailers had crappy deal, imho, the gaming merchandise seemed to be in alot of hands.

No i'm pretty confused by them as well.

It's funny to me how so many people are so surprised at the Wii's resurgence during the holidays. Nintendo consoles always excell during the holidays, as parents are looking for gifts for their children. Being a member of a vg sales site, you'd think more would be aware of this. Even the miserable selling gamecube performed strongly during the holidays, at least in the US.

Plus, there is the bombshell of DKC that are likely lifting Wii sales before its launch as well as the continued strength of NSMB. DKC is going to reignite hype for the Wii more than most people here think.

Well, I was going to respond, but you summed it up quite nicely.  Thanks.

I think it's save to say that Kinect will hit the 2 million mark by next week.
