Forums - General - Need website ideas

Hey guys, I'm currently working on a website as part of my current project at university, and it has really got me fired up about creating my own website. Mainly it'll be just for the sake of doing it and getting better at it, but I'd like to have some compelling content on there still.

So I was thinking about a website based around gaming, seeing as it's my greatest passion, but I don't really know what to have on it. I don't just want to have a blog and post some news there and whatever, that's too simple.

So any ideas for some unique concepts I could use would be appreciated.

Off topic: are you taking computer science as your  major?

Uhhh... I guess you can make a website about

advice (not good imo...)

reviews(too many imo...)

programming advice(if you're really good at programming, doesn't seem to bad.)

programming community (sounds pretty good imo).

Well, in Denmark the system uses different names, so I don't know what majoring includes. But right now I'm taking my bachelor degree in software engineering, and I plan on following it up with a master's degree in game programming.

And thanks for the suggestions, but I actually came up with something I think I'm going to follow through on.

A forum where there are a bunch of tools for gaming built in. Like with the mafia games here on this site, my forum would support all the functions it needs to make it easier to play and administrate. And with a bunch of other games as time passes hopefully. ^.^

PM me if you want any technical advice / help. I'm a web developer myself.

Thanks, I will. We haven't set anything up on a server yet in my project, we're just running it on a database on our own PCs, so some help getting all that up and running is certainly welcome.

And what are you developing in? I'm working with ASP.NET MVC2 at the moment, and loving it.

wow best idea ever

lets call it Virgins' Bane.

A site where you can rate the hotness of gaming characters

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

You could organize a site where people go online with their consoles to play older/obscure games who's online community has died out or never really got started (for example, I really enjoyed Bionic Commando's online when the game first launched).  Set up schedules and such.  That way, the old games have new life.
