That leaves the question: Are shooters really that big? Or is Call of Duty just that big (and halo)?

not anymore than any other genre.

Without bothering to add up all the sales, offhand I'd say that currently FPS games sell more than any other genre.

Interesting thing about the PS3 top 20 is that with the exception of Resistance Fall of Man, all FPS games on the list are from the CoD franchise.

Mainly I would mean if we take out COD would shooters really be that big?

naw, it would pretty much be an average genre with Action Adventure titles selling the most. Uncharted, God of War, Assassin's Creed, LittlebigPlanet etc.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. Are you saying that there were more FPS game sold than other genre or are you saying that on average, a FPS will outsell a game of another genre.

The FPS genre moves more units of software than any other genre.

True, but it's not because FPS is some kind of super selling genre. It's because the biggest game this gen is a FPS and releases every year.

Hmm I felt like bringing back this topic from the dead, but not uselessly.

So I was checking weekly sales for the last quarter just to remind me some major things. But I wasn't expecting to see new things though. It's about Black Ops.

When I wrote this, BO's FW was like this :

Week Americas Japan EMEAA Worldwide Running Total
1 1,969,865 129,317 1,913,812 4,012,994 4,012,994

Which was a bit under Reach's FW btw. And now:

Week Americas Japan EMEAA Worldwide Running Total
1 2,269,865 129,317 1,913,812 4,312,994 4,312,994

So it really did beat Reach (strange that the adjustment was a round 300k though).

But that's not the main reason for this bump, I bumped it to discuss about figures adjustments on VGC. We all know that when numbers are posted they're the way they are (meaning kind of raw and not totally accurate, but it'll always be this way), we comment on them, and after that we forget about them (kind of) and move on to the next week and alot of people won't bother checking them again.

But if such big updates are being made, isn't it better to at least make a summary of what has been updated (I mean large updates, don't bother posting updates of 1/2k..) so we can acquaint ourselves with these numbers now closer to reality.

I don't know, a sticky thread or even a new thread every month or week, which summarize all the major adjustments that were made -hardware updates too, even more so that these adjustments were made several weeks after the release of the game. (I don't know when but at least one month or two)

So BHR-3 was right after all... congrats.

If anything, it just shows the growth of Call of Duty on not just the PlayStation brand, but in general. However, Reach did 200k(plus) more than Halo 3 week 1, which if it ends on a higher total than H3, it too is a franchise on the growing side of the scale.

Excellent for both either way it's sliced.

So no one wanna talk about my idea about posting what has been changed? ^^

*feels bad man*

There was a thread with all weekly adjustments... but I lost the link and I didn't knew if owner update it actually.
