Not the most portable...and the battery lasts about an hour playing...but I think mine is about as good as it gets for price.  $900, 1.6 ghz i7 (quad core, dual threaded easily makes up for sub 2.0 Ghz), 1 GB dedicated graphics card, "only" 4 GB of RAM though...but that could theoretically be upgraded.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Graphics memory amount bears no realtion to its performance. They sell $40 cards with 1GB now, doesn't make them not suck. What's the model name?

But, @OP, that is the kind of laptop I was talking about for performance over portability. I'm sure you'd want a higher-clocked dual instead of a lower-clocked quad however, for gaming. Games can't use 8 threads on a quad HT.

Could you mention some specific games you want to play? It makes it easier for me to look up benchmarks.

well i like all sorts of games but i guess the fantasy games that you don't get on the consoles like the witcher 2 and others, guild wars, mount and blade, first templar that sort of stuff

you must be able to buy decent laptops that you can upgrade a bit

None of those games are that taxing. The M11x or similar could handle them fine. I was concerned you were going to say Crysis or Metro 2033 or HAWX. Most of those you wouldn't even need a 'gaming' PC for.

You can't upgrade anything on a laptop.

well i am still looking

so keep offering suggestions

forgot about Asus laptops

Its not entirely about gaming on the move, its running serious software and alot of multitasking as well as Shogun 2 total war and civ 5.

Basically this will replace my well dated Desktop as well as be able to take it to uni and back home

I was considering buying this but then I compared the cost of the M11x to an Asus 15 inch laptop with the same specs and I saved about $600.

Here is the one I bought ($1150).

For a bit more you also get a more impressive specimen ($1300).

But for what you are looking for these ain't it, lol. If you really want to game on the go, the M11x is perfect.. It's just damned expensive.

Wow they look good, thanks for the recomendations of Asus, they allows me to compare

and i like the ability to expand the Ram to 16 gb if i need. And i hope its cheaper in Aus. And an Larger screen to. i will check it out more.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

(Double Post)

I also thought about it. I sold my new old notebook to my sister. Had it for a couple months but wasnt satisified with the graphicpower.

I also looked at the Alienware MX11. But there are three reasons why I wouldnt take it:

1: Price is overpriced for the same money you get equally good Asus which is the brand with the least warranty cases.

2: Design--> I dont like it at all. Its just not my thing red glwoing keyboard and spaceship design I rather take clean and simple stiled ones.

3: Graphics Card its a Geforce 335 M which is similar too--> Geforce GTS 250M. So pretty old. And now we got a significant improvment with the Geforce 4XX M series. I am looking for an 2kg Notebook with a Geforce 425/435 M or better. (415 M is weak)

The 335 M architecture is based on the Geforce GTS 250M. And supports DirectX 10.1

The 425 M architecture is based on the Fermi Core (GF 108) and is based on the GTX 480M. Which is the strongest single GPU Mobile Card on the market and supports Direct X 11 and OpenGl 4. also it has an HDMI 1.4a output and supports 3D and you have a bunch of other Features.

The 425 M is a little bit more powerful then the 335 M, but both cards are normally used for 15 inch Notebooks= same energy requirements. The 435 M is significantly more poweful and is only used for 15 inch notebooks. Its just a matter of time when they integrate the 435 M into a Notebook  with 2.2 kg or less I have already seen the 420 M/425 M in 2kg notebooks.

I would definetly take a Notebook with the 425 M so thats why I wouldnt buy the MX11.

But there is one thing I read about Dell that their Graphicscard can be switched so you could theoretically upgrade it but I am absolutly not sure so write an email if you want to know it.

I found the Notebook I intend to buy. It has a Radeon HD 6550 a brand new card and almost as powerful as the 435 and way more poweful then the 425 M. its the strongest you can get for a 13 inch Notebook at the moment.

Price is a little higher 850 Euro but its graphically more capable then the MX11. And has hybrid graphics its switching to a weaker GPU if needed to save energy when in battery mode .

Maybe I am going to look for a quad core in the same configuration.  Its definetly stronger then the MX11.
