PC - Alienware M11x - View Post

I also thought about it. I sold my new old notebook to my sister. Had it for a couple months but wasnt satisified with the graphicpower.

I also looked at the Alienware MX11. But there are three reasons why I wouldnt take it:

1: Price is overpriced for the same money you get equally good Asus which is the brand with the least warranty cases.

2: Design--> I dont like it at all. Its just not my thing red glwoing keyboard and spaceship design I rather take clean and simple stiled ones.

3: Graphics Card its a Geforce 335 M which is similar too--> Geforce GTS 250M. So pretty old. And now we got a significant improvment with the Geforce 4XX M series. I am looking for an 2kg Notebook with a Geforce 425/435 M or better. (415 M is weak)

The 335 M architecture is based on the Geforce GTS 250M. And supports DirectX 10.1

The 425 M architecture is based on the Fermi Core (GF 108) and is based on the GTX 480M. Which is the strongest single GPU Mobile Card on the market and supports Direct X 11 and OpenGl 4. also it has an HDMI 1.4a output and supports 3D and you have a bunch of other Features.

The 425 M is a little bit more powerful then the 335 M, but both cards are normally used for 15 inch Notebooks= same energy requirements. The 435 M is significantly more poweful and is only used for 15 inch notebooks. Its just a matter of time when they integrate the 435 M into a Notebook  with 2.2 kg or less I have already seen the 420 M/425 M in 2kg notebooks.

I would definetly take a Notebook with the 425 M so thats why I wouldnt buy the MX11.

But there is one thing I read about Dell that their Graphicscard can be switched so you could theoretically upgrade it but I am absolutly not sure so write an email if you want to know it.

I found the Notebook I intend to buy. It has a Radeon HD 6550 a brand new card and almost as powerful as the 435 and way more poweful then the 425 M. its the strongest you can get for a 13 inch Notebook at the moment.

Price is a little higher 850 Euro but its graphically more capable then the MX11. And has hybrid graphics its switching to a weaker GPU if needed to save energy when in battery mode .

Maybe I am going to look for a quad core in the same configuration.  Its definetly stronger then the MX11.
