You know. I never got Tekken and I consider myself a fighter fan. It's my least favorite of the "Major" fighting franchises, ranking just above the crappy ripoff games.

I'd give a few plays in the arcade when it was pretty much the only fighting game there. But eh, unless 6 is a huge improvement gameplay wise from 5. I just don't see it.

Can anyone really explain to me why this game gets so much hype? Is it just really that much better multiplayer or something?

 Biggest selling fighting 3D game series ever. Just like the next in the series of any other massive selling games will get hype.

 Also, people want the newest in this series to be a good as Tekken 3.

Tekken gets so much hype because it is by far the greatest fighting series ever made. There are many reasons it is the best, such as the wide diversity of characters and fighting styles, but first and foremost is the superior control system. It is just far more logical and intuitive than the competition. It honestly astounds me that other fighting games have not adapted to have one button for each limb like Tekken does, it just makes so much more sense. And most of them still have a block button, which Tekken has rendered obsolete.
There hasn't really been much evolution of single-player fighting games since the days of Final Fight, but as far as multiplayer goes, Tekken reigns supreme. There is simply no better 2-player game in existence.
I expect Tekken 6 to be the greatest fighting game ever made (unless they pull a Tekken 4) but I also don't expect it to have advanced much beyond Tekken 5 in anything other than graphics.
If they finally pull off a decent story mode it would be awesome, but I am not going to get my hopes up.

Hope tekken 6 arrives early next year by march say. PS£ needs to start 2008 well. They cant just wait till mid 08 mgs4 to start the fightback

Yeah SF Alpha 3 was just absolutely godly. Remember the cast version? Akuma and Evil Ryu then Bison Shin Akuma then 2 bisons with infinite supers that was insane.
