Gamers Line Up For Gran Turismo 5 in Japan

Gran Turismo 5 went on sale today in Japan, a day after it’s North American & European debut. In Akihabara, Tokyo over 100 were waiting in line for one popular electronics store to open it’s doors.

To avoid conjestion lines at the store were divided between those who planned on purchasing the limited edition  GT5/Titanium  Blue PlayStation3 bundle and those buying the regular version of the game.

North American reviews of GT5 are already available but so far there have been no reviews for the game from Famitsu or Dengeki in Japan.

Well the Japanese love their racing games. Good for Sony, looks like GT5 is a hit (I personally love it)

We'll get news of First Day sales in Japan tomorrow.

To be fair, there were pictures of people lining up for Kinect in Japan as well, so it doesn't really mean much.

That being said, there's no doubt GT5 will outsell Kinect in Japan. The question is, how many PS3s is it going to push?

Looks about like the Kinect lines to me. GT5 to sell 15-20k confirmed?

PS3 could be looking at a 80-90,000 week in Japan, so I'd say plenty (this is without EMEAA).

More like over 120k.

Yea but I guess that less were produced because GT is not as big as FF in Japan. So 100k bundles, 20/30K of normal sales, 30/40k of new PS3 owners that couldn't buy the bundle so they bought the PS3 (plus the game), yea 150/170k or something like that.

Ps. I don't think that 200k bundles were produced, more like 100k, I don't recall a boost as big as 200k in PSP sales when GTP came out.
