Forums - Microsoft - Deadly Premonition - Buy it know!

I know that a thread about this game exists, but I made a new one because I will explain some basics that can help you stand with the bad things, and why should you do this? Because the good stuff is amazing.

First I wanna say that this game is simply amazing, one of the best stories I've played in my long gamer life (since Spectrum), with references and inspiration in Twin Peaks, Silent Hill and Alan Wake. So, if you like this things, you like this game, if not, stay away.

The bad things are:

-Outside day graphics, I think this is the worst thing of the game, inside graphics, character graphics, day with rain, night etc are acceptable

-GAMEPLAY, it's kinda like RE4, it's playable, I advise not to use the second analog stick during normal play and to use a lot the BACK plus  X command to quickly turn around, this is of major importance, also you can quickly open doors if you run towards them and then press A (X to run, A to open)

-TIME, now, this is important, if you want to make time pass, just smoke a cigarette, look at the clock in the back and control the hours, that's why cigarettes say "you won't notice the time passing"

-TRAVEL, I didn't know about this, I played the game without it, but Berstuck said "I'd recommend completing georges side quest as early as possible so that you obtain the radio. Once you have this you can fast travel to all previously visited destinations and makes everything a lot easier.". I won't recommend this because you will loose lot's of conversation between the characters and it's not that hard to travel

-CARS, if you don't like your car you can buy new ones in the scrapyard, if you can't find it, ultimately he will be at the hotel

-HEALTH/FOOD, so you have lot's of food and low health? Sleep and then eat, problem solved

That's all, enjoy the game, you will be surprised and next thing you know it's going to be one of your favorite games and you will be telling everyone how great it is and that they should get one.

BTW, amazing cover:

Nice, now go and tell others so this game makes a profit :)

Hey man i totally agree with you on pretty much everything you say, the game is amazing. In regards to getting the radio from George so you can fast travel it makes collecting the trading cards a lot easier but for your first play though its not really essential.  An alternative to using the radio is just to upgrade your car at the junkyard and it makes the driving aspects of the game a lot more enjoyable.

lol...so many of these threads lately about this game

I agree everyone should try it...its great at what it does great.

I still don't know why everyone likes it, sadly i found a copy of it when i didn't have my 360 , now i can't find it at all, i've only found the Asian PS3 version, i don't know if thats in english or not, but i'm sure that will run out of stock as well (people love horror games in here for some reason)

you now that he is making fun of you know?

@Berstuck, I know you know! :)

Yep, driving will be more enjoyable, except for the fact you won't have the police siren.

@disolitude, good old disolitude, yep, it's great in so many things, characters, story, ambiance, conversations, rain, rain, and more rain! :D

@PullusPardus, I don't know why others love horror games and movies, but I can tell you why I love it, basically the real normal world is ah..... Boring? Horror games offer you the possibility to see things in a different way, with more fantastic things, things like Zombies, Dragons, Lost souls, Mystical powers, Possessed people, Ghosts, Aliens, Vampires, Werewolfs and other stuff, pretty interesting, at least for me.

You can buy Deadly Premonition online here for example: http://www.zavvi.com/

@PullusPardus, No I'm not, seriously, the game only sold 120.000 copies, I don't know if it's enough to make a profit.

Well the game was released overseas and ported by a different company (if I remember correctly) so I'm sure it made money.  I'll get back into it, one day.....but the U.S. cover isn't as cool.  :(
