Forums - Microsoft - Fallout: New Vegas DLC Revealed?

Amid all of the patches and fixes for "Fallout: New Vegas," Bethesda's releasing some updates that we won't regret needing in the first place, and the first such pack of content is going to be called "Dead Money." We already knew that it would be out on December 21, 2010, but senior designer Chris Avellone has elaborated a bit a on where it will take the "New Vegas" story and how it will accessed.

"From a gameplay standpoint, Dead Money is accessed by loading a save file from any point in Fallout: New Vegas prior to the endgame sequence, in the same way as Operation Anchorage, Point Lookout, The Pitt or Mothership Zeta were triggered in Fallout 3," Avellone said in the latest installment of Bethesda's newsletter "The 'Works."

In-game, you'll be summoned to embark on the 800-Microsoft Point adventure by a radio broadcast announcing the Sierra Madre's gala opening.

"The Sierra Madre is a mythical place in the wastes, with travelers all risking their lives to find it," he explained. "Only one man truly 'found' it - and lived. After the fall of HELIOS One, Father Elijah of the Brotherhood of Steel set out to find new weapons to eradicate NCR. And in the process he found the Sierra Madre."

Avellone didn't give too much more away, which is fine, because if he did you'd probably be irritated that he was spoiling "Dead Money" for you. As it is, though, as long as this batch of content is stable when it arrives next month, it should be a fun way to close out the year.

I hope it's bigger than it sounds... One casino and maybe a couple landmarks isn't worth $10. The story sounds like it's gonna tie into the Brotherhood of Steel questline very well though.

Wow DLC already!  I haven't even gotten past level 6 on my first playthrough yet

It took me so long to get to level 30.. I guess not being able to find good armor throughout the game hurt me a little bit. It's my fault for not picking sides until my 80th hour in the game

Sorry to say it, but by the time it comes out on PS3 I won't have any interest, sorry Bethesda you lost money.

Well maybe if you could take a break from AC BR and Fable, you could become a true  gamer. :P

Being a true gamer is for sissys!

From what I have been reading on this, they are raising the level cap to 35. I am ambivalent on raising the level as each Fallout game before Fallout 3, the level cap forced hard choices in the leveling process where initial choices mattered.

Fallout 3 with it's leveling system and 20 points per skill level with high intelligence basically allowed you to create a God character by about level 12. I had no qualms with this, but I don't want to see it repeated where initial choices mean little because the additional levels and bobblehead items allow you to max out all wanted skills and max stats.

As for weapon categories, I am of the opinion that neither guns nor energy weapons need any change besides a few new weapons. I think Explosives is lacking because the ammo for the grenade machinegun is so dang expensive and the options are limited at endgame with Mercy (unique grenade machinegun), Annabelle (unique missle launcher), and the Grenade Launcher. A long-range sniper type weapon such as a mortar would be well appreciated.

I am interested to see if this will make the game playable after the end and how it will tie into all the possible factions.

So its Xbox exclusive? not on PC and PS3? , well by the time all the exclusive DLC's relese the Fully patched and DLC'd game is going to relese

i hope they don't do this with the next Elder Scrolls, i don't plan on getting it on consoles!

It's not fully exclusive, just timed exclusive. But timed exclusive enough where the other versions won't matter
