How quickly we forget about 9/11. I guess its going to take another 3,000 people to die in a terrorist attack for people to stop whining because they are embarrassed to get in the full body scanner. Here are a couple options to get over that problem.

1. Go to the gym if you are embarrased about your body.

2. Don't fly on a plane.

One of those options should fix the problem.

You realize that its not just invasive, its very ineffective right?

Because theirs a huge amount of white, Asian and black people flying planes into buildings. Isrealis use psych profiling as well, making it even better.

To put it this way, If I was hunting mafia I would certainly focus on Italians. Does that make me racist?

Its not right to penalize a whole race due to the actions of a few.

Actually after 9/11 there was a white guy who crashed a small plane into a building. HA!

There have been plenty people from every race blowing (white in OK) up buildings or snipering people accross the US (black), etc. There are also far bigger threats in my area from Mexican drug cartels than any dead Italian mafias.

Also, there are far more Muslims who are not Arab than are Arab. So, if the profiling solely for Islamic terrorists, you can't just focus on them brown guys.

The fact is Israel's policy sucks, its racist, and only works due to the limited area of control they have. It would not work in US or any European nation.

Right. I forget how people should be okay with an invasion of their privacy just because you are. This has NOTHING to do with "body image". It has to do with people being treated like criminals just for trying to get on an airplane.

On top of that, many experts are reporting how this kind of randomness wihout checks and balances is ineffective.

Great. So now I'm getting groped at airports for no good reason.

Secure in that every passenger and attendant had a visual check in any are they could conceal anything. The visuals are off-site and therefor not embarrassing as a physical pat down or having to remove clothing. No one is touching my wife or kids, yet we have all been 'searched'. That, to me, is a fair trade-off for better security. Its no different than having nurses and doctors all up your business at a hospital, in fact its better as the people 'viewing' the horribly poor quality image are not even there.

Edit: Ahh I almost missed this. These scans can't really detect liquids. What were all the recent scares about again? Fluid things that rhyme with liquid I think. No, they are not checked to make sure they aren't carrying anything. The exact same vulnerabilities exist.

The last time I got a STD test my doctor tried to call in the nurse I got along with the best, and trusted the most. I refused to have it happen all the same. One or the other was my limit. Yes I am a very private person as it pertains to that region of my body. I am not against people exposing themselves in general, but just me exposing myself. I get to draw that line for myself though. I also get a voice in an agency I fund.

DP sorry.

For those of you who are okay with this practice, answer this:

Are you okay with TSA agents doing things not allowed by your local law enforcement agencies, even when those law enforcement agencies have DUE CAUSE, which the TSA does not?

Because that's what you're agreeing to by supporting this measure. TSA agents are allowed to reach into clothing (down pants, up shirts) when it is overly baggy, they have people remove articles of clothing, they aggressively search the groin region... guess who's not allowed to do that in a search? The cops.

Why are planes originating in the US such a concern anyway? It doesn't take a plane to transport a bomb or weapons in the US, it doesn't take a plane to have a lot of people at one place (hey, it's Black Friday in a few days).

The only really happy with the process people are probably random pervs in the TSA and that Chernoff guy, who has by now no doubt made his millions.

That analysis is an interesting article which doesn't pursued the non-use of these machines (as he seemed fine with using one) but the overall incompetent policies and behavior of the TSA.

1. Not terrorism related, the guy was a suicidal nut.

2. They gonna search a lot of muslims to stop them? No, I think they'll pretty much go after the mexicans- WHICH IS RACIST!

3. I never said focus on Arabs, I said focus on Muslims- so this is somewhat of a moot point even though the majority of anti American muslim terrorists are from the middle east.

4. As I said, Isrealis use psych profiling so race doesn't have anything to do with it. Or at least isn't everything.

5. We'll never know if it would work, because they're too busy stripping little boys to try something new that might offend people.
