Kinect won't work there simply because of the living space avaliable to the average consumers there, there is simply no room, the way the Wii was designed is that it'd work even in small rooms, so the Move followed that path. Europe living rooms are huge at least in UK and my Country.

You do realize that the US and UK are the primary 360 regions right? The US covered about 550k which is about right on it's home turf, we are talking about the rest of the world that covered the rest of that 1.1 million with UK most likely being a big part of that, 2 countries is not global penetration. Current Nintendo level is global penetration, PS2 level is global penetration. If you even think for a moment that Kinect will be big in Asian countries, you would be very very delusional.

I haven't been wrong with these kind of predictions yet since I joined the forums, I've had wishful thinking but I also know when to have my reality checks. Just remember the region we are talking about. I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to Asian countries because well, I am one and I know what they look for. I don't need theories or guesses when I know what they think are hot products for the masses. This is not a global penetration device like an iPhone/iPod or a Nintendo handheld and can't even match up to a Wii that's working on a 10 year old technology by now due to late arrival, and that's that.

I hope kinect does well in Japan just to shut up those idiots (not on this thread but they always pop up) who go on about the Japanese don't buy US products, but I doubt it.

Someone asked about the ipad saleslaunch in Japan:

The pictures posted here of the Kinect queue is a just a couple people compared to this, yes it's an American product.

Well I just to check out the big Bic Camera in my city today (Monday). They were sold out of the 250gb 360 Kinect bundles. They had the 4gb kinect bundles and stand-alone Kinect sensors in stock. All the released games were in stock as well. (Many games like Kinectimals, Your Shape, Joy Ride don't release until next month and I don't know if Dance Central will be released here?)

I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to pay people to stand in line. It would make for a great photo op -- at least until people call you out on it.

You can do a lot with a $500 million advertising budget.

I'll post this here as well, my reply to another Kinect in Japan thread:

"Well... What can I say? I'll say what I have always said about Kinect in Japan. Space CONSTRAINT.. I am currently searching for apartments (in Tokyo), I have been at maybe 20, and NONE of them are Kinect friendly... I even have a MUCH HIGHER budget than ALL MY Japanese friends (only because my company will pay half of my rent) and I even earn WAY MORE than the average young Japanese (gamer demographic, as well as kids). So I don't believe people will buy it (in the LONG RUN). Also, I have been looking for electronics to buy for my apartment recently, and I have yet to see people flock around the Kinect demos. I even have a girlfriend who says that her average Japanese family has LESS SPACE (per room of course) than many of the apartments I have been looking at!

So even me, with a much higher salary and much higher apartment budget, can't find an apartment in Tokyo suitable for Kinect, how the hell can the average Japanese find one?"

This is my take on Japan and Kinect, I might be wrong.
